The Rhinelander Rat Rescue officialy started in April of 2005. But the very first rescue was in Sept of 2004. Since then the thought of a rescue was out of reach. In April I recieved a double rex female from a pet store only for her to have babies a week and a half later. The litter of 11 started it all. A week after they were born it was brought to my attention of a mother rat and 9 babies at a humane society, that could face euthenisation, I took all ten to foster and adopt out. Since then I have taken in a few more rats, some will remain here at the rescue. All total the rescue is home to 31 rats, some that are seeking forever homes. We are, no kill, not for profit, and are located 60 miles north of Wausau WI, in Rhinelander. It is a family owned rescue and we do not breed rats. Our rats are handled on a daily basis, are are fed a high quality home made grain mix, and a cooked meal everynight. And recieve LOTS of love.
