Physics Scavenger Hunt Grades

             The GRADES

Calculating Your Scavenger Hunt Grade:

1.  You are required to turn in a minimum of 30 items from the list.  This will earn you a grade of     90

            a.  the first team each period to reach 30 items will receive 8 additional points         98   (mixed period teams not eligible for these points.)
            b.  the second team each period to reach 30 items will receive 5 additional points   95   (mixed period teams not eligible for these points.)
            c.  the third team each period to reach 30 items will receive 2 additional points          92  (mixed period teams not eligible for these points.)

2.  Each member of your group must present items from the list.  Presenting includes showing and explaining the item to the teacher, as well as filling out and turning in the note card.
            a.  If at least 30 items are turned in, with each member presenting at least 10, then the full credit as listed in #1 above will be earned.
            b.  If at least 30 items are turned in, with each member presenting at least 5, but less than 10, then ten points will be deducted from the group's score.
            c.  If at least 30 items are turned in, with each member presenting at least 2, but less than 5, then twenty points will be deducted from the group's score.
            d.  If any team member fails to present at least 2 items, the group will receive a 30 point deduction and that member will receive a zero. (So notify me if someone isn’t doing their share of the work!!!)

3.  Any group submitting less than 30 items will be graded on the following scale, with the same provisions outlined in #2.
            a.  25 - 29 items will allow a maximum grade of           80
            b.  20 - 24 items will allow a maximum grade of           70
            c.  15 - 19 items will allow a maximum grade of           60
            d.  10 - 14 items will allow a maximum grade of           50
            e.  less than 10 items will allow a maximum grade of the number of items multiplied by 3.

4.  You will receive 2 bonus points for each additional item (over 30) you bring in.  These points cannot bring your grade to over 100.

5.  There will be bonus points awarded for being first and second overall.
            a.  the first team from all my physics classes to bring in 30 items will receive 13 bonus points (including
the  8 from #1a), possibly making their grade 111.
            b.  the second team from all my physics classes to bring in 30 items will receive 11 bonus points
(including  the  5 from #1a), possibly making their grade 106.

6.  All team members will receive the same grade unless an individual fails to present at least two items (see 2d).  Notification that a group member is not doing his/her share and should be given an alternative project must be given to the teacher in writing by both other team members by __________, in order to avoid this adversely affecting the group.
