As our social life becomes ever more complex, the need for robotic home assistant systems has risen. Although being left as a largely unexplored area of research for decades, home robotics has gained significant momentum with much commercial potential. Solid increment in vacuum robot sales such as �Roomba (iRobot)� or �Trailobite (Hitachi)� is strong evidence of such trend. In spite of the difficulties of dealing with highly structured indoor surroundings, many technological breakthroughs have provided economical entries into a variety of new possibilities for domestic robotics.
