This is Abby my loyal friend and companion.
I acquired Abby from my daughter-in-law.She was to leave for Germany to be with my son and finish his tour of duty with the US Army.
I agreed to keep Abby and thus this is how our friendship began.
Abby was the smartest canine I ever owned. She would *grin* on command, sneeze for her treats, bring in the mail and the newspaper. It didn't take much to keep her happy.
A belly or head rub....or just vegging out with me or curled up beside me in my chair.
One of her favorites things was to go with me mowing the lawn. Hubby built her a little seat box and attached it to the riding mower. I bought her a sunvisor head band to keep the sun out of her eyes. Off we
go .....me and my headphones and Abby with her visor.
Her other favorite thing was going to
the groomer. She loved being all
dolled up with her nails polished and the bows in her hair. When she came home she strutted her stuff and boy if no one noticed she was up on her hind legs twirling around until someone DID notice and praised her.
I have a photo of her in the sunvisor and as soon as I find it I will add it here.
Abby also developed seizures and was on medication. But as the years went by the seizures got worse .She was on the strongest medication available but on Dec. 1997 Abby was unable to recover.
Thus I still feel the sadness and hurt as though it was yesterday.
We buried Abby where she played,in our back yard along with a little head stone.I planted gladiolas and other flowers there and tend to it regularly.
She is truly missed.
Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge.
When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge.
There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together.
There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.
All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor. Those who were hurt and maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remeber them in our dreams of days and times gone by.
The animals are happy and content, expect for one small thing:they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.
They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into
the distance. His bright eyes are intent. His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.
You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face: your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet,so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.
Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together!
