| The Bluetones And Ambershades at the Norwich Waterfront | ||||||||||||||||||
| Okay, so I've waited 9 years for this moment, but I am finally sitting on a bench outside the Waterfront, waiting for the doors to open on what I?m already considering will be the best gig of the year. Every time the Bluetones were in Norwich, I wasn?t able to go. But I?m here now, and isn?t everyone gonna know it! | It takes a while, looking at the fake London Transport signs that are adorning the back of the stage, and the drapes with strange characters on them, but the I see some movement at the back of the stage. That must be Ambershades. Push to the front, I might as well give them my support. Just as much as I would the Bluetones. Being a musician myself, I know what it?s like to be unappreciated on stage. They deserve it. | |||||||||||||||||
| In my experience, support bands are generally rubbish, but as soon as the first chords come out, I LIKE IT??? | ||||||||||||||||||
| After a while, the crowd starts pushing forward. Movement again. Bit of a squash! Pulses start racing the moment the guys walk onto the stage. Loads of screaming teenyboppers who probably shouldn?t be there in the first place. Oh well, I'm bigger than they are. | ||||||||||||||||||
| The new single Clap Clap Clap is a happy song...about a cocaine withdrawl. Hmmm. Oh well, it?s good. I want more. They finish up the set in style, and then silence. Again. | ||||||||||||||||||
| Not in suits, but Mark has a VERY fetching leather jacket. Actually, I can see Eds grinning at the back and he is looking very smart. The first song starts, and I can hear that Davey from Ambershades (whoo, gorgeous!) was right. They are ?F***ing rocking? (His words not mine) Here it Comes Again is a new song off Luxembourg, and I was actually pretty shocked, mainly because it is completely different to what I?ve heard them do before. More great new songs follow, Fast Boy and Liquid Lips, and I?m getting more impressed by the minute! OK about time for the old stuff! They include Bluetonic, Are You Blue or Are You Blind, Carnt Be Trusted and others in a similar vein. I can?t remember the order, mainly because I was still in shock from working out all the words. The look on Mark?s face when he saw our group singing along was brill! Good thing he didn?t see the pants on the stage when he turned round! | ||||||||||||||||||
| They really are going for it tonight as Solomon Bites The Worm. Then they follow it with more new stuff, Big Problem, You?re No Fun Anymore and Never Going Nowhere. I Love That Song! | ||||||||||||||||||
| Ambershades keys player Paul looks to be having a fantastic time, enthusiastically clapping his way through the old songs. | ||||||||||||||||||
| Hey, hint on how to get rid of irritating boys at a gig, start talking about how fit the guys on stage are. They will get bored and go away. | ||||||||||||||||||
| As soon as they finish these, Mark?s shoes comment is rather strange, but I noticed he had the same trainers as me! Ooh! Slowing it down, the guys go into Keep The Home Fires Burning. Since this song is very special to me, along with Slight Return, it wasn?t long before I could feel the tears come. I felt really embarrassed to cry in front of them, especially in the front row, and in everyone on stage?s line of vision. If they?d done Slight Return as well, I would have been really blubbing! | ||||||||||||||||||
| Sleazy Bed Track shows the full range of skills, the loud rock, and the fantastic sleazy vocals that there should be more of. | ||||||||||||||||||
| Can?t remember much else, will update the review if I do. C ya later! | ||||||||||||||||||
