This Passing Fall
A leaf upon the wind, you drift by.
My eyes are upon you as you sway,
float,
fall.

I fill my chest, and with one swift punch
I try to push you back up, toward the sky.
But you only smile and sway.
Falling.

You wander ever closer
and I feel your touch along my skin.
Can I hear you creeping closer?
Yes, yes, you consume all other noise.

As you flutter, not far removed,
I let your smile reflect on my face,
like the moon.

I know you.
You have been nearing all my life,
swaying, floating,
Falling.

And the smile grows,
I know you. I free my breath again.
Grace goes with me as I fall.
