Spring 553 MR
Rhaegar V, Prince of Avanil, Suzerain of Brosengae and Taeghas, Overlord of Mieres, Patriarch of House Avan, Grand Dragonlord of the Obsidian Dragons of Avanil, The Dragon Prince, Blessed of Haelyn, Scourge of the Shadow, Defender of the Righteous, Champion of Justice, Forger of Peace, Master of Law, Harbinger of Knowledge, True Heir of the Iron Throne, ascends the Obsidian Throne to become the 69th regent of Avanil since the founding of the Anuirean Empire. His coronation in Daulton on 14 Sarimiere is cause for much celebration within Avanil.
The people of Avanil have great cause for rejoicing with the announcement that Rhaegar V, Prince of Avanil is to wed Lady Noeva of Boeruine. Furthermore, Aelissa Avan, Viscountess of Trelaerth is to wed Shaene, Archduke of Boeruine. Throughout the realm people give thanks to Haelyn that the long feud between House Avan and House Boeruine might finally be at an end.
His Grace, Heirl Diem, Duke of Diemed pledges fealty to Rhaegar V, Prince of Avanil in a ceremony conducted by Draelen Castellar, Archprelate of the Western Imperial Temple of Haelyn, at the Grand Cathedral in Daulton. Shortly afterwards Daeren Avan, Lord of Balried, and younger brother of Rhaegar V, marries Lasica Diem. His Grace the Duke of Diemed then appoints Daeren Lord Marshal of Diemed.
As part of the agreements with Archduke Boeruine and Duke Diem, Prince Rhaegar gains much greater influence within the Imperial City of Anuire. The Princes influence in the city is now unrivalled and eclipses that of the Imperial Chamberlain.
Summer 553 MR
Rhaegar V, Prince of Avanil, along with Shaene, Archduke of Boeruine, Blaede, Duke of Tournen, and Torele, Governor of Mieres, launch a campaign to rid Anuire of the scourge of Rhoubhe Manslayer. a great army of 12,000 Anuirean warriors is assembled to invade the awnsheghlien's realm and initially despite the foul magics used by the sidhelien the attack proceeds well with the armies laying siege to the Tower Rhuannoch. However foul treachery by the sidhelien of Tuarhievel brings the attack undone and despite the brilliant leadership of Prince Rhaegar the forces of Anuire are forced to withdraw. Prince Rhaegar announces to the weary survivors that the 1,800 Avanese soldiers who fell during the battle died to ensure that our realm would be safe for many years to come as the forces of the Manslayer were severely mauled in the campaign. The Prince is greatly saddened by the news his faithful commander, Lord Oervel Lastier, Marshal of the Seamist Field Army, was killed during the battle along with most of that army.
Rhaegar V, Prince of Avanil also personally lead a great campaign in support of the Duke of Diemed to defeat the forces of the rebels in Eastern Diemed. Despite the efforts of the regents of Roesone, Aerenwe, the Eastern Temple of Nesirie, and the rebels leaders to oppose him Prince Rhaegars Grand Field Army, with the famed Obsidian Dragons in the vanguard, crushed the coalition army at the Battle of Hillside and occupied the rebel capital of Braeme. a number of prominent rebel leaders were captured in the fall of that city and handed over to the prefects of the Western Imperial Temple of Haelyn to be tried for heresy.
With the collapse of the Chamberlains authority in the Imperial City of Anuire, Rhaegar V, Prince of Avanil is required to exert his influence to maintain order in the city. The Imperial City now stands on the brink of total chaos.
Considerable building activity is taking place in the great city of Daulton as Prince Rhaegar oversees the expansions to his castle Avanhold on a scale not even imagined previously. The people of see this as yet another sign that their beloved Prince is a true visionary.
