Lord Raedaen Aelesbury

Formerly Lord of Aelesbury

now known as 'The Rebel Lord' and 'The Dragonslayer'

Lord Raedaen was once the powerful Lord of Aelesbury in the province of Caulnor, Avanil. His influence and power however extended far beyond his considerable holdings, for he held the position of Master of Trade and as such was regularly seen at the Avanese Imperial Court. Lord Raedaen though sort ever more influence and this lead him to betray his Prince.

Lord Raedaen was implicated in the bloody massacre of His Most August Imperial Highness, Darien I, Prince of Avanil, and Lady Aubrae by various minor nobles. What Raedaen's hoped to gain from this act was never determined as his role was uncovered quickly when one of the captured murders was 'persuaded' into revealing his co-conspirators.

When Rhaegar Avan learned of Lord Raedaens involvement in the conspiracy he ordered his immediate arrest on charges of treason. However the influential noblemen was tipped off to his impending arrest and was able to flee his estate just ahead of the arrival of the Obsidian Dragons. Lord Raedaen is believed to have fled north into Tournen to escape his pursuers, When Rhaegar learned of Raedaen's escape he was furious. He ordered Raedaen be striped of all his titles and the seizure of all the lords estates, making Raedaen an outlaw.

His wealth and influence now vanished Raedaen used what money he was able to carry with him during his flight form Avanil to establish himself in Boeruine. It is believed that 'The Rebel Lord' ,as he was now referred to in Avanil as Rhaegar forbade the use of his true name, had sort join with the Archduke of Boeruine in whatever campaigns he launched against Avanil. This way he hoped he might return to his homeland in triumph. However it was not to be, for the Archduke soon married the sister of Prince Rhaegar and Prince Rhaegar married Lady Noeva Boeruine. Hence the long enmity between Avanil and Boeruine came to an end. Raedaen, sensing the danger of remaining in Boeruine again fleed. This time into the Five Peaks. It is believed that he remains hold up in the mountains, growing increasingly bitter and seeking any opportunity to march in battle against Prince Rhaegar, whom be fears and despises, and hoping to one day reclaim his lands and titles. He now refers to himself simply as the Dragonslayer, in reference to his bold claim to take the head of the Prince of Avanil.

Original Arms of Lord Raedaen Aelesbury

Current Arms of the Rebel Lord

The original arms of House Aelesbury consisted of three white lilies upon an emerald field. However with the seizure of the family lands and estates this arms no longer appears in the records of the College of Arms in Daulton. After fleeing Avanil Lord Raedaen took a new coat of arms to reflect his status as an enemy of Prince Rhaegar. His arms now consist of a silver knight standing astride a green dragon, which he is impaling upon as golden lance. This arms reflects the Dragonslayers determination to kill Prince Rhaegar (who he portrays as a green dragon rather than an obsidian dragon to reflect his vile nature). Lord Raedaen only displays this emblem during battle - at other times he travels in plain garb so as not to draw attention to himself.
