This kid wanted an Autograph because I was in England for Desert Storm... aww, how cute, eh?.. And no, I didn't tell him I spent most of my time in the British Sgt's Mess playing darts and drinking Guiness, waiting for casualties that never came... Thank God. :o)
"This won't hurt a bit, Col."...hehehe
This was one of many Medical Readiness courses .. aka Med Red.. demonstrating a sling & swathe on my C.O. (Commanding Officer). This Med Red was in Alpina, Michigan in March... camping in the snow for a week... ugh.. brrrrrrrrr
While in England for Desert Storm, my unit was stationed at a RAF (Royal Air Force) Base.. the Brits had never had Mexican food... we had a cook in our unit and decided to treat the Brit Soldiers to our Americanized Mexican food... I was in charge of making Taco Salad Bowls.. ugh.. sitting over a deep fryer all day..now I know why I never went into "fast food" business.. lol
(look how young and scrawny I am in all these pics.. this was in Feb '91)
This next 2 pics are from when we came back from Desert Storm... I found the pic on the left at the Wing Public Affairs.. and asked them if I could have it after they were done.. (no, I'm not with this guy anymore.. but I love the pic) On the right, is the normal abnormal Teri, with the US Flag in my pocket.. :o) Glad to be home .. Even if the Homecoming was a big dog & pony show.. lol
One of the hardest things for me is to call me a Veteran... Although, I was activated and sent to England with my medical unit and I have the status of vet... I can not make comparisons to the sacrifices that my Armed Forces brothers' and sisters' made in the Gulf. As I told a friend.. I may have not been on the front lines physically.. I was there with them in Spirit and Heart.
