Jimi Hendrix is one of the legendary giants of rock and roll. His eclectic style transcended rock and blues.
His musical genius will be remembered, like Bach and Beethoven.

Jimi's music, and his philosophy of freedom,
self-expression, and love are misunderstood as corny
by the jaded standards of today's corporate-tribal-digital culture. But when I listen to Jimi, I remember that other worlds are possible, where individuals are not squeezed into molds - and discarded if they don't fit.

That is the real power of Jimi's music and message.
It's also why the reigning culture regards him as a curious drugged weirdo - because its basic assumptions are threatened by Jimi. He was a black man who reclaimed the blues, which had been adapted and sanitized by white rock and roll musicians. Retaining his blues roots, he transcended existing musical categories, becoming and a prophet with a Message of Love.

Jimi's death was a fatal blow to the 60s counter-culture experiment. His own struggles to escape the traps of racial and sexual conventions, and his personal demons, inspired most of his songs. Unlike punk rockers of the late 70s (counter-culture's death rattle), he wasn't a nihilist. He proposed an alternative way of life, starting fresh like the New Rising Sun. He understood a better world couldn't be a static Utopia - Jimi recognized the need for growth and change by pushing
Straight Ahead. Jimi was constantly experimenting and growing, and his untimely death left a void in politically and socially progressive mass culture.

The name netSperience was inspired by Jimi's first album Are You Experienced? Most people think the phrase referred to the LSD experience, but I think it meant really examining yourself and your role in the world, and breaking free of the artificial and self-imposed limits we all take for granted, our own
Room Full of Mirrors.
