This page shows the many steps my father and I took while building our 1955 Chevrolet. When my dad sold his old red and white 55 Bel-Air we began to work on this one. I guess the process started when I was about twelve or thirteen years old. We cleaned up the frame lowering the overall stance of the car. We also added a 350 small block, 700 overdrive transmission, flowmasters, disc brakes, and power steering. When we finally finished the frame it sat for about four to six months before we started work on the 150 body. Our original plans were to restore another 1955 Bel-Air but we found a 1955 150 body that was in better shape than the Bel-Air body we already had, so our plans soon changed. The main difference between a Bel-Air and a 150 is that a Bel-Air has side chrome and stainless steel trim and a 150 does not. Anyway after we did all of the body work we got it painted Banzi Blue with a Diamond White, pearl finished top. I always thought that I would get it painted red and white but everybody paints their hot rod red. |
