Some people refuse gifts or help through pride or some negative reason, however being a glad receiver is a good way to keep the flow of knowledge, or abundance flowing to you.  People often use the scripture "God loves a cheerful giver, but remember, God loves a cheerful receiver too.

When you receive a gift, or knowledge, or wisdom from someone, it is always polite to say "Thank You,"  and express gratitude for the gift you have received.  Being a good receiver allows you to accept the promotion, progress or advancement that is coming to you.
