This
year most of the students completed a: Web-Communicative
Based
RESEARCH PROJECT OF A HISPANIC COUNTRY RESULTS Each student learned how to conduct research on the Internet, to collect major cultural, socio-political, and statistical information about a "Spanish Speaking" country of their choice, created a "Power Point" to present their findings, then designed a web page, that is part of a single website to share with others.

STRATEGIES USED WHAT IS COMMUNICATIVE - BASED INSTRUCTION ? Communicative - based foreign language instruction encourages the student to aquire language in a natural social context where they are using language for the real purpose. (e.g. critical thinking, problem solving situations, reaction to literature etc.) WHAT IS WEB - BASED INSTRUCTION ? Khan (1997) defines Web-Based Instruction (WBI) as: "...a hypermedia-based instructional program which utilizes the attributes and resources of the World Wide Web to create a meaningful learning environment where learning is fostered and supported.
Students in the "Spanish Native Speakers Program" are able to use the language as a research tool to broaden their understanding of the subject matter taught in the content course. The learning experience in this "Country Research Project" revolves around the interests, talents, and needs of students. By providing highly engaging learning experiences which are both motivating and challenging the students 'attitudes and academic achievement was improved. I taught "Heritage language" instruction in addition to "language learning" within a meaningful context that prepares my students to succeed at school, in the society, and the workplace. |
