Southern Doubleheader (Select an image to view a less compressed larger image) |
These pictures were taken in the late 1960s at the Southern rail yard next to the roundhouse in Alexandria Virginia. Southern used their 722 consolidated and contracted with another excursion line to use the 750 pacific. Here they are parked on the wye in front of Southern's Alexandria Virginia Roundhouse. 722 later left the Southern roster and was sold to a museum railroad. It was spectacular to see 722 bouncing side to side in front of 750 as they doubleheaded down the tracks. |
