The Virginia Muscle Car

Butch's 63 Galaxie 500 XL of Today

My brother (Hunt Ford Service Manager/Partner) and I (Hunt Ford President/Partner) are restoring this 1963 Ford Galaxie 500 XL (2dr ht). So far we have performed a body off frame restoration. My brother did a great job in rebuilding the motor as well as a lot of other work on the car.

It has a Factory 427 "Center Oiler" and 4 speed.

We took care to make the body straight. Still needs a complete interior and exhaust system. Our goal is to have it finished by June (2013); don't know if we'll make it.

I also had a recollection of Shirley Industrial racing the night Andy was there and the police made a raid. (see Butch's recollection in the Recollection Section).

Bob, you asked about Rick Hunt Ford; we are not related. However, I do know Rick Hunt. I also have a brother named Rick Hunt. As I said, my brother and I are partners in "Hunt Ford, Inc."

Take care, ~Butch

UPDATE RESTORATION COMPLETED

It took a while, but here are some pictures of our 1963 Ford Galaxie 500 XL. They were taken here at the Dealership last weekend. You might recall this is a Factory 427 car. We took it to Maryland International Raceway on Sunday and entered it in the car show. This was the " Ford Fever Classic". We were fortunate enough to win the "Best Ford Car" award. This was our first judged car show with this car. Also, in the pictures is My son Jeff's 1969 Ford Torino Cobra. It won first place in it's class. It is a factory 428 Cobra Jet.

Thanks and God Bless, ~Butch, Jeff, and Rick
