RIGFENNIDH BEAR'S
HUNTING & FISHING PAGE

"The tree of liberty must be refreashed from time to time by the blood of patriots and tyrants." Thomas jefferson

Some of the things that I have enjoyed most of my life, are hunting & fishing. The only thing I regret is not doing them enough. Growing up in North Florida, and having my Mom's side of the family just across the state line in South Georgia, provided me with alot of opportunities to get out into nature to hunt, hike, fish, and as a kid, just plain old fashioned good playin. The forests, lakes, creeks, swamps, and beaches in the area are filled with fish and game and gave me hours of enjoyment.

Hunting and fishing are not only great recreational activities, they are a way to connect with nature, connect with our past. A way to remember what went on before and to pass this on to future generations. Not only the "fun", but the stewardship and responsibilities of being an honorable man and hunter. How to hunt/fish not taking to many or the young and small, but just enough to feed yourself, family, and to provide natural goods for them.

Passing on the knowledge in a fun and enjoyable way!

The Fianna of old were excellent hunters and fishermen. Years of survival off the land during months of wandering the countryside on campaigns and adventures honed their skills for hunting as well as battle. Their are many tales of the Fianna on the hunt for Boar or Deer. Of the the hounds barking on the chase at the heels of some wild beast.

In the future I will be adding to this page, providing stories & tales, pictures, information, and links to various sites pertaining to the topic of outdoor adventures such as hunting and fishing. Check back from time to time and enjoy.

For the Record
Among the 15 states with the highest homicide rates, 10 have restrictive or very restrictive gun laws. Twenty percent of United States homicides occur in four cities with just six percent of the population---New York, Chicago, Detroit and Washington DC--and each has a virtual prohibition on private handgun ownership. New York City has one of the most restrictive gun laws in the nation, yet 20 percent of the nation's armed robberies occur there. Go figure!

NRA Hunter's Code of Ethics
1. I will consider myself an invited guest of the landowner, seeking his/her permission, and so conducting myself that I may be welcome in the future. 2. I will obey the rules of safe gun handling, and will courteously but firmly insist that others who hunt with me do the same. 3. I will obey all game laws and regulations and will insist that my companions do likewise. 4. I will do my best to acquire those marksmanship skills which ensure clean, sportsmanlike kills. 5. I will support conservation efforts which can ensure good hunting for future generations of Americans. 6. I will pass along to younger hunters the attitudes and skills essential to a true outdoor sportsman.
