From a deed in Northampton County, North Carolina it is found that Edward came to that
county some time around 1753 from Southampton County, Virginia ( Southampton County
was formed in 1749 from Isle of Wight County) it appears that Sarah may have been his second
wife due to children's ages on record.

to my beloved son JOHN DAVIS 10 shillings to my beloved son EDWARD DAVIS land and
plantation whereon he now lives to daughter MARY DUPREE and son JOSIAH DAVIS 10
shillings each daughters LUCY DAVIS, SARAH DAVIS, bed and furniture etc. each son
ARTHUR DAVIS land and plantation whereon he now lives to son SAMUEL DAVIS land and
plantation on the Wild Cat Swamp below my son EDWARD to son LEMUEL DAVIS land and
plantation whereon I now live at death of my wife lend beloved wife SARAH DAVIS the use of
land and plantation whereon I now live for her widowhood, also all the rest of my Estate within
doors and without and at her death or marriage I give the same to equally divided amongst all
sons and daughters

Know all men by the Presents that I Nicholas Boone of Northampton County in ye Province of North Carolina and in consideration of the sum of Seven Pounds Ten Shillings current money of Virginia to me in Hand paid by Edward Davis of Southampton County in Virginia with which I acknowledge was all fully satisfied have bargained, sold delivered, and set over and as for myself my heirs Exc. & Adm vi forever; grant bargains and sell and deliver transfer and confine unto him the said Edward Davis his heirs and assignes forever a certain Parcel or Division of land lying in the County of Northampton on the W side of Wild Cat Swamp and bounded as followeth; begining at a maple in Wild Cat Swamp of______ thence a line of marked to a Hickory corner thence by a line of marked trees to a pine Humphrey Revell's line thence along the line to the head of ______ _______ the said branch to a line oak in the wildcat so down the______ courses of the said swamp to the first______. To have and to hold the___________of land together with all houses gardens orchards roads way and water with all other rights and property ye same belonging or in in any wise appertaining to his the said Edward Davis his heirs and assignes forever, further I the said Nicholas Boone do hereby further agree with the said Edward Davis his heirs and assignes, that the said bargained land and every part and parcel thereof is__________ free from all formes and________grants bargains sales_____dowers mortgages______executors and all manner of incumberances whatsoever and that I have at the______of the sealing and delivery hereof to all and singular ye premised a good pure and absolute estate of inderetance in which I_______and oblige myself my heirs Exc.
