Charleton Y. Allen

Tradition has it that Charleton was residing in Northampton County on 30 May 1861. At which time he enlisted in the Confederate Army at age 30 years. He was present and accounted for on that date. He died on 04 March 1862 of a disease which is unknown, but believed to be related to his fighting.

I am in the process of researching more on Charleton and what battles he may have taken part in.

According to the book "The Roster of Confederate Soldiers 1861-1865", Charleton Y. Allen served in the North Carolina 15th Infantry Co. A.

In the book "Compendium of the Confederate Armies Of North Carolina" it states: The North Carolina 15th Infantry Regiment was organized as the 5th Infantry Regiment Volunteers and mustered into Confederate service for 12 months at Garysburg, Northampton County, on June 11, 1861. Redesignated as the 15th Infantry Regiment, on November 14, 1861. Reorganized on May 02, 1862. Companies L and M became 2nd Companies K and I, 32nd Infantry Regiment, on July 04, 1862. 1st Company D traded for Company B, 49th Infantry Regiment, on January 9, 1863. Surrendered at Appomattox Court House, Virginia, on April 09, 1865.
