Announcement from Wisconsin's Aurora Health Care of St. Luke's Medical Center's participation in the national clinical trial to evaluate the effectiveness of RFA in relieving the pain associated with bone cancer.  The description includes a description of the striking improvement of a patient's quality of life. (Spring, 2002)
Findings from a clinical study at 9 medical centers showed that 95% of the patients treated with the Rita radiofrequency procedure experienced a clinically significant reduction in pain from bone cancer.  Rita received clearance from the Food & Drug Administration (FDA) to market its RFA device.
