| I'm what I would consider, a traditionalist. Which means I am very much into the traditional practises and beliefs of my people. It is what has kept us strong and very much here to this day. I have posted a picture of my museum (by my museum,, I mean it's my baby.. a pet project that I worked on in the past.. my legacy to my community. My woohoo I'm on the net link explains it a little) and will eventually begin to explain my people and our ways soon. As soon as I can get some time. Being a mom takes up most of my time. | ||||||||||||||||||||||

| Above: Here I'm helping out at the Luuxhon Celebration before the museum was constructed on this site. The Luuxhon Ruling was a commemorative event where the Gitanyow won a Supreme Court of BC Ruling that the Federal Government of Canada and the Provincial Government of British Columbia have LEGAL OBLIGATION to negotiate in Good Faith about the "Land in Question" (Gitanyow Traditional Territory). On the day of the Ruling, we all went to Vancouver and sang the Victory Song outside of the courthouse before we went in. (I think it had brought us the power!) I have pics of that too. I am a traditional singer for the Gitanyow. The food here is a traditional meal called burnt fully dried fish.. very strong, but very good. As Gitksan members we are required to help at all Feasts. |

| In the year 2000 I was encouraged by our Gitksan Economic Development Officer, Anne Howard (Thank God for her persistence because I was VERY busy ALL the time) to take advantage of a funding opportunity from 16/37 Community Futures. I approached the Chiefs and we endeavoured on a dream of theirs (and the community's) to construct a museum on the old traditional grounds. Right: is the site today with the dream now a reality! Thanks to Chief Maali, (Glen Williams) for sharing this vision. Gitanyow Historic Village In the Works (Coming Soon) | ||||||||||||||||||||||

| Now: Post construction. A back view taken from the main road of the community. Eventually all of the totems will be moved back to their original location along the hillside facing the river. | ||||||||||||||||||||||
