January
2016—I’m going to begin the 2016
news with the picture Kristen took last year—looking back and looking ahead. Em’s returning to WA and Andie, returning to CA, so I
moved things for both of them. Cindy and I traded cars for a bit and I left
Porterville on December 30th with her RAV 4 filled with “stuff”--
arriving in Anacortes, WA the afternoon before the beginning of 2016. It was
good to be with Sam and Gloria Humble— fellowship, food, and TV shows in the
evening—I don’t watch much TV, so, visiting friends sometimes enhances my
knowledge of current TV. American Ninja
Warrior was added to my list of new programs. We attended a McMillian Brothers auction, a first
for me! On the 2nd, I drove
from Anacortes to Coupeville and a couple of days with Dan, Robyn, Kim, and David
Bott. Again, fellowship, food, and TV shows—NCIS, Railroad
Alaska, and the movie Unstoppable.
Monday, Andie came up from Shoreline, we packed some of her things in the RAV
4, then drove to Shoreline, left Cindy’s car and took Andie’s into Seattle
for dinner at In
the Bowl Bistro; very good!!! Later that evening, Elias gave Andie and me
a tour of the KOMO studio. KOMO is across
the street from the Space Needle and the Pacific Science Center. On Tuesday, Andie, Elias, and I visited the Pacific Science Center
and Pike Place Market; I finally visited the first Starbucks. We went back to
Shoreline, picked up Elias’s mother and had dinner at Buca di Beppo in Lynnwood—we
got to eat at a table
in the kitchen. As they meals were created, they would bring them by our
table; great food! Wednesday, I began my journey home—meeting up with Emily
for lunch at Shari’s
Restaurant in Kelso, WA. It sounds easy enough—call or text, get off when close to each
other and eat. I forgot our closing speed was close to 140 MPH and the
connection that was going to happen near Vancouver, WA happened in Kelso.
Good food and time together. There was traffic through Portland, then rain off
and on until I got to Grants Pass, OR for a night of sleep at Motel 6.
Thursday, I stopped to purchase a set of chains at Les Schwab Tires and on
the road by 10:10 AM. Through Yreka at noon, Railroad Park Resort and the Pacific Crest Trail/Interstate
5 intersection an hour or so later. I was in Sacramento at 5 PM and
arrived home at 9:30 PM. Cindy and Kristen came over, we unloaded Andie’s
things and traded cars. Journey--2,231 miles! Andie and Elias have set
their wedding date—April 22, 2017. Friday, January 29th,
students and staff from Prospect Education Center visited Dry Creek Preserve.
February
2016—Andie is developing her massage practice.
