REY ADEL'S
SHORT STORY
"TEARS AT SUNSET"

Tom went to her house the next day, opting to absent himself from his classes. It was Friday, anyway, he thought.

Marie wasn't home. The maid said she left a note saying she's at a hospital.

"Happy Birthday, Marie." He offered a single red rose and a large package. He decided to bring it to her there than leaving it at her house.

Marie didn't took much notice of the rose but was more interested with the package. "Never bring me flowers . . .," she said after thanking him.

Tom didn't mind her remarks but kissed her instead. "Open the package."

Marie tore the wrapper and saw herself eye to eye. "It's great, Tom. You made me a Mona Lisa. But this is not what I've asked you," she complained with a wink.
