DIOMA'S POETRY
THE MAIDEN'S RETORT

Now I tell you: "Nay, I will not sail"
In open sea, what if we shall fail?
Out there we may be far, we can't bail.
In front of you I'm ashamed to wail
I'd rather live and lock myself in jail.

Come now my darling please let me be
Don't hold on me for my heart's heavy.
I couldn't be forever your lady
For life's fast changing but I'm ready
To face the sad life ahead of me.

Now my love is gone and dusk has come
Our book of love has been in a jam.
I leave you now without any qualms
This I must bear and not be fearsome.

Farewell to you, my brave sailor dear
I can't endure to leave with no tear
Like a foolish maid, yes, I'll appear
When you are gone, on this coast so clear,
Adieu, love, the sorrow you mustn't bear.
