REY ADEL'S POETRY
IN THE EYES OF A CITY POET

I
A traffic jam at a crossing
the light needs repair.
A stranger looking for an address
somehow in despair.

Policemen chatting boisterously
by a dirty street corner.
A bandit in bandanna and
a pair of Nike sneakers.

II
Men in gray rushing home
for a two-dish lunch.
Children in stripes on the streets
as if they know a bunch.

A housewife with two brats
in confusion, as they panic bought.
A man with his curriculum vitae
seemingly in deep thought.

III
A best of friends loudly arguing
on the street after a spree.
A lonesome man drowning his woe
over a lonesome bottle of beer.

A street vendor peddling
his wares and his soul for free
A dipsomaniac sleeping on a trench,
penniless, watchless, without care.
