For the final project in the Principles of Solar Energy class, taught by John Scofield, a group of three students, John Odbert, Jerry Tann, and Jessie Cretaro, decided to design an energy efficient home using the principles they had learned in class. The design includes the use of strawbail construction, modified tromb walls for heating air (and maybee even water), modified window insulation and shading techniques, along with many other already proven energy saving features.

At this point the house is still in the design stage. Construction is scheduled to begin in the 2nd week of June, on a piece of property located in Sacramento, CA. This web-site contains the details of our project and explains the methods, reasoning and hypothsis that it is based on. As the construction begins to take place this web site will be forming a sort of online diary of our project to follow its progress. Please explore our site and feel free to ask us question or offer us advice.
