I did restrain my fist a bit, I mean- he's not dead. Or so I've heard from what's-his-face? Sketchy! Yeah. Sketchy. Strange guy. Big nose, but couldn't be himself without it. Hell, I can fall in love with anyone if I wanted to, despite their physical appearance, I'm romantic and natural like that. I want to be loved, and I want to love- but if anyone faces me with that fact, I'd high- tail it outta here and ride off to dodge. And, no- I'm not falling for Sketchy. *Shivers.* That's just wrong for me. He's a bit too pot-like for my tastes, a bit too much like a puppy begging to be petted then he'll end up snapping off your hand and blaming it on his hunger. Right. Speaking of my ride, which goes very, very fast; my Electric ZR-75 is a five speed painted sleek red. Her seat places me in a semi-upright position that makes it easy to see where I'm going. She protects my needy-long hair from getting bugs caught in it too. Did I mention that I love my bike? My baby was made in the twentieth/first? century. I don't really know the date, but she's sweet nonetheless. Bought her on the black market from the actual owner looking for some quick cash. I've painted her since. Before she was a sickly-green that made me want to wrench when I say her. I paid three large for her and I'm NEVER going to let her go. I got her when she was sixteen, I was fourteen. I had to work hard on that beauty. I need to talk to someone. Maybe Original Cindy can help. She's probably down at CRASH. ********* Crash 7:06 PM Original Cindy was at her table talking with Herbal and Sketchy, "Man, that girl is a druggy! No wonder she did that to Normal!" Sketchy and Herbal nodded in agreement, their eyes go wide when they see the subject of their conversation walk into the club and head straight for their table, "Speakin' of the devil." Raine approached them, stopping at the table abruptly, "Hey guys." "Don't 'hey guys' us girl- get outta here before Original Cindy goes kung-fu on your ass!" Original Cindy exclaimed, showing Raine her fist. The younger girl backed up, her hands raised in a 'surrender' pose, "Girl, cool it! What the fuck did I do?" she asked, then it dawned on her, "Shit. That." Original Cindy nodded, "Yeah THAT. Normal didn't deserve to be punched, girlie- sure he can be an ass- but he's still our friend." Sketchy nodded, "As frightening as the prospect may be," that got him a couple of glares. Raine felt like a caged animal, "You don't understand.. he... I... it wasn't fair!" she exclaimed, throwing her hands in the air. "It was so fair, girl, you left your first day to play hookie, I so trusted you!" Her jaw just dropped then she clenched her teeth, "I had a family emergency," her anger was flaring up quickly, and that was one thing she could not control... her anger. The older girl just rolled her eyes, "Like what, getting more of those pills? The ones that left ya shakin'?" she asked, standing and looking down at Raine, "Get outta my sight girl. NOW." Raine looked over at Sketchy and Herbal, finding no back-up, she huffed and exited the building, grabbing her motorcycle as Max just pulled up. "Raine, what's wrong?" Max asked, just getting the cold shoulder. Max grabbed her, only to be shrugged off with a, "Leave me alone, Maxie." She watched her sister ride off and entered CRASH, quickly finding Original Cindy and the rest of her co- workers, "Anyone know what's up with Raine?" she asked her friends. Original Cindy just shrugged, "Maybe she just doesn't like being confronted." Original Cindy responded, taking a sip of her beer. "Or threatened, " continued Sketchy, almost bouncing in his chair. The three jumped in their chairs when Max yelled, "YOU DID WHAT?!" ************ Logan's PH 7:34 PM Logan typed vehemently at his computer, only to be interrupted by a knock on his wall, "Yeah?" "Is Max here?" He wheeled around to find Zack leaning against the wall, "Uh, no. She um, I don't know where she is actually." Zack nodded his head, "She's in heat, you know." Logan nodded, "I figured as much, is that all- or did you come back to break something else?" he asked. Zack straightened, "I came back to apologize, and ask you where you got the Bast." "It was my grand-mother's," Logan replied, turning back around to type on the keyboard to his computer, "Or great-grand-mother's to be exact; it was one of the things they saved from selling in the Great Depression, or so that's how the story goes." Zack mentally cursed himself, "Can it be fixed?" he asked, silently hoping that it could be, for Max's sake. Logan shook his head, "I doubt it. You're forgiven, you can leave now." The younger man shook his head, "And what, leave my two little sisters here? I'm not stupid." "I thought you had the other eight to look after," Logan said, pausing his typing and looking over his shoulder. Zack suppressed a growl, "What are you working on?" he asked. Logan gestured towards the computer, "The 'Red Series,' they're looking for Manticore Prototypes, in other words, you all. I'm looking for a way to protect you." "Why?" Zack asked, sitting in the other computer chair. "You have something they need to stay alive. They were made to not feel pain, but they're bodies give up after about six months of torture. Your genes can help them. But I'm not going to let them get to you," he replied, continuing typing. *********** Beaten Down Rat Motel Raine's Room 8:13 PM She would not admit to being hurt, she only knew Original Cindy for two days. So why did she have this sinking feeling for wanting to belong to something, even if it was the a few kids at Jam Pony? Because she was hurt. Coming to Seattle wasn't the only reason she left New York. She'd just turned eighteen when her foster parents found out what she really was; and they wanted money. So she ran, or rode. She bought a motorcycle and rode across the U.S. and came to Seattle in search for new friends and a new future, protecting her siblings while she was at it. She acted too quickly and let her temper guide her and it got her into a whole-lotta shit again. She looked at the trash can, deciding that it needed to be emptied and grabbed the bag, heading outside. "You're a hard person to find." Raine jumped and dropped the bag, turning around at the voice and assumed fighter stance. "Relax, I'm not going to hurt you!" exclaimed the male voice. Raine activated her night vision to see who it was, but they were shadowed, "If that's true, then come out to see me face to face!" The man approached her, causing her heart to speed up, "You know Raine, we tried to work with your depression, not knowing what was going on. You should have told someone." Her eyes went wide, ready to kick the man's ass, "Lydecker, you are such an ass. Can't you just give up?" she asked, cracking her neck, "Was it not enough to torture us while we were just children?" she kicked him in the face, "Why can't you just stay away?" Lydecker looked up at her from the ground, "For such a short girl, you pack a big kick!" he exclaimed, holding up a bottle of strong anti-depressants, "For you, courtesy of Manticore if you tell me Zack and Max's location." She rolled her eyes, "Like I would ever give you the satisfaction of me double-crossing my sibs, fuck you." "Such vulgar language!" he exclaimed, standing up again and pulling out a tranquilizer gun, only to find Raine gone. *********** Logan's Apartment 9:30 PM Max entered Logan's apartment exhausted. Looking after a self-loathing little sister isn't the easiest thing in the world. Raine was one of the best soldiers of X5, but the emotional load was heavy for her. She'd only entrusted her older sister and Zack about what the day-guard was doing to her. "Logan? Zack?" Max called, tossing her jacket on the chair closest to her. Logan wheeled towards her from the computer room, "Zack left. Said he had some things to check up on. I told him about the 'Red Series.'" Max shrugged, fighting the urge to just fall into his lap, "I'm sorry about earlier," she said, walking closer to him. He nodded, "It's okay, I understand." She shook her head, "But you don't. I just brushed you off without so much as a reason. You deserve an explanation..." "You're in heat. I know," he said with some difficulty, what if she didn't mean it when she kissed him? "That's not all though," she hesitated, touching his shoulder softly, then running her hand up his neck; vaguely wondering if she was doing the right thing. Logan gulped, "Max..." he swallowed a moan when her fingers trailed across the back of his neck, her nails caressing the skin softly, "Is this you..." he swallowed again, "Or is this the 'heat' acting?" Max smiled, leaning over him, kissing his ear softly, "It's all me," there was no turning back now, she'd already crossed the invisible boundary they'd unknowingly set up. She straddled his legs and kissed him deeply. His hands rose up to caress her back through her shirt, waiting for her signal to proceed while returning her kiss, groaning audibly as she slid her tongue into his mouth; then again as she shifted against him. He pulled away slightly, enough to dislodge his mouth from hers, "Are you sure about this?" he asked, giving her a reassuring squeeze against her sides. "I've never been so sure about anything in my life... well, except for buying my motorcycle..." she was silenced by another earth-shattering kiss. *************** Notes: Yeah! Max and Logan action!! Sorry 'bout the over- filled Raineness in this one, but you know, that's the title of this fanfic... "Raine" for those of you who hate Original characters (been reading up on the fanfic DA forum.) Next installment will be SO filled with more Loganness and Maxness. Bring in some 'Red Seriesness' and we got a salad! (forgive me- lack of sleep). Oh- I SO love Original Cindy. But I started suspecting a Mary-Sueness happening here, so I started a little fight. Where should I go from here? Thanks you guys! -Revved Up Female **************** Updated 4/4/01
