"Max, I'm sorry..." Zack shook his head, wondering how to make this better. 'Why to go, Zack, what kind of protective brother are you supposed to be?!' He berated himself, hanging his head, "I really am, I'll get it fixed..." She just shrugged, "It's no use. It's destroyed, not enough glue will ever bring her back..." a tear escaped her eye, brushing it away quickly. Zack picked a piece of the statue up, the foot, "I'll get you another one..." he promised, extremely sorry he had hurt her. Max shook her head that was so like Zack, to think that ANYTHING could be replaced. The thought was sickening to her, "Don't you UNDERSTAND?! It CAN'T be replaced! Sure, you can go and find another one, but THIS ONE can't be replaced! The other one will just be a substitute!" she cried openly now, cursing her crazy hormones today, "Just leave me alone..." when he didn't move, she turned to him, "GO AWAY!" she yelled, stalking into the closest bedroom, which just so happened to be Logan's. She collapsed on his bed, surrounded by his smell. Her precious statue was destroyed, the one she had stolen from him, the one that he had somehow retrieved from the black market, the one that she would had been able to take home with her whenever she wanted to. She had to admit to herself, though- it just wasn't the statue she was angry about. It was Zack's behavior about everything. About how they were still soldiers, how they should never settle down and keep running. She was sick and tired of his attitude about everything, it made her sick to her stomach just thinking about what Logan said while they were in the hospital: "He cares about you, Max, and I don't mean like a brother." God, those words haunt her to this day, she doesn't want him like that, so why does Zack feel so adamant about being in her life, wasn't it he who said that they should split up? With all of her thinking, she barely noticed when Raine came in and sat down right beside her, "Look, there's a whole lot of things you and I need to talk about, but right now; we need to head over to Jam Pony... that guy, Normal's, on the warpath." Max nodded, getting up and brushing away tears from her eyes, "Heat," she said, and Raine nodded; because to them, it explained everything. They headed to the dining room to eat a quick lunch, "What are you going to tell Logan?" Raine asked, tucking a stray auburn hair away from her face." Her older sister shrugged, "Nothing much, just my usual good-bye and leave," Max answered, "I'll explain everything to him tomorrow when I'm no longer horomonally devastated. ********* Jam Pony 3:00PM Raine walked into Jam Pony ready to explain her sudden disappearance to Normal, whom was in a decidedly bad mood. Normal saw Raine walk up to the desk and shook his head at her, "You're fired." Her eyes went wide, "What do you mean I'm fired?" she asked, noticing that Original Cindy and Sketchy had come up to help her fight for her job back. Normal just shook his head, "Do you need a dictionary? You're fired- gone. CANNED!" he turned to Sketchy, "What are you doing here, you're supposed to be on a run!" he handed a package to Sketchy, "Get out of my face." Raine wouldn't let this go so easily, she needed this job, "Can I have a reason?" she asked, just about ready to either cry or punch the man. "You left here this morning and never came back," he answered, turning to Original Cindy, "I have a delivery for you, here," he handed her a package then turned his attention back to Raine, "Are you still here?" he asked, annoyed. Raine huffed, "I had a family emergency!" Normal's patience was wearing thin, "Right, and I'm George Bush." She just stared at him, "Is this some male PMSic thing that I've been hearing about? A lack of testosterone?!" she yelled, not ready to give up the job she just got. "Can you leave, please?" he asked, leaning up against the counter. "Yeah, sure. Right after I shove one of those packages where the sun don't..." Max placed a hand on her shoulder, "RAINE!" Raine turned to acknowledge her new-found sibling, "What?" Max turned to Normal, "It's my fault Normal, I pulled her outta here," she gave him a begging look. "Sure it is, Max; you wanna be fired too?" he asked, handing a package to another courier. She just rolled her eyes at him, "You can't fire me, you need me." Normal sighed, "As unfortunate as that is, that's true, but you little girl..." he turned and pointed at Raine, "Are fired!" Raine's face went red, "LITTLE?!" she almost screamed, shrugging off Max's hand on her shoulder. Max sighed, "Deep breaths Raine..." But her little sister didn't feel like taking shit from anyone today, "YOU CALLED ME LITTLE?!" She grabs the collar of Normal's shirt and punches him, he falls on the floor holding his cheek. Everyone in Jam Pony turns around just in time to see her storming out of the building. Max looked down at Normal, grabbing his arm and pulling him up off of the floor, letting him dust himself off, "You shouldn't have called her little, she gets a little testy at that." Normal nodded, "Obviously." Herbal came up to the desk and surveyed Normal's bruising cheek, "Wow, womon- what's your friend packing? Steroids?" he asked, watching the bruise darken. Max just shrugged, "No, she took self-defense classics when she was younger. A lot of kids were picking on her." Herbal nodded, "Must've bon some closs!" he agreed. She nodded, "It was. I should go talk to her..." Max walks outside to see Raine's motorcycle missing, "Shit!" ****** End Raine 5/? ****** Notes: Okay, I apologize now if the characters seemed at any way out of their minds, right now though, personally, I am going alot of different emotional things right now- so I'm pouring it into my characters. The angriness at having something of yours destroyed for no real reason, the hurt and uncertianty that comes with relationships. I just wanted to show the emotional side of Max in this fanfic, that even a genetically-revved-up-female such as her can still get emotional about the little things, just like any other girl. That, and I'm sure that after what Zack and Max have been through, certian things he has said, like in BBWW, Cold Comfort, and 411 on the DL. Okay, now that I got that out- peace you all! Review! Sorry for Herbal- but I'm trying to add some "Local Color?" in there...... whatever it's called. ^.^ Updated: 4/4/01
