Logan's PH 8:33 AM When he was sure Max could no longer hear him, Zack glared at Logan, "So, what was going on here when I walked in?" he asked. "You broke in, not walked in," Logan pointed out. "I was walking, something you obviously can't do anymore," he snarled. Logan clenched his teeth, "You know, you really can be a jerk!" Zack jumped up in a striking position, "Have you not forgotten? I can kick your ass!" "Max wouldn't be happy about that, now would she?" Logan shot back, his anger rising in his throat. Zack eyed his wheelchair, "It's not like you can give you what she wants anyway." Logan glared at Zack, "Gimmie a year. Gotta have time to heal. By the way. The incestrial attitude towards Max is a bit sickening, really." Playing dumb, Zack shrugged his shoulders, "Funny, I don't know what you mean." "Oh, really? Then why do you act as if I'm your worst enemy?!" he exclaimed, grabbing the wheels of his wheelchair and leaning forward. "Because, Logan, EVERYONE can be bought out." "Really? I have all the money I need, more than I want, actually. I'm feeding poor kids in what we now call fourth world countries! Zack turned away from Logan, picking up the Bast statue, "And doing much more with it, I'm sure." "You know, you're right. Everyone has selfish intentions in one way or another; I'm surprised they didn't teach you that back at Manticore!" Zack grimaced, and turned to Logan, "You know NOTHING about Manticore! NOTHING." Logan leaned back, "I'm learning more everyday. Like all Manticore men are assholes!" There was a sudden smash in the room, followed by silence. ******** Logan's PH Noon Logan and Zack continued to glare at each other when the girls walked in. Max and Raine walked into the apartment, Raine hanging behind to awe at the place, "Hey! Logan! Zack! Found someone I thought you two should meet!" Max walked into the living room, already getting bad vibes. Logan's table was smashed, there was glass everywhere, in the center of the shattered glass, the Bast was broken into many pieces. Max's eyes went wide, "I knew I shouldn't have left you two alone, what happened in here?" she asked, her eyes taking in the mess. Raine walked in a few seconds after Max finished what she was saying, "Wow!" Logan shrugged, breaking off the glaring match with Zack, turning towards the two girls and pointed to Max, "Zack lost his temper," he said, as if it would explain everything. "Well- THAT'S obvious!" Raine exclaimed. Max just shrugged, keeping her distance from Logan, "You're lucky your apartment isn't destroyed..." "Yet," Raine interrupted. They all look at Raine. Raine shrank back at all of their stares, "Or not, I take that back." Zack walks over and stands infront of Raine, "Raine? Is that really you?" he asked. Raine looked up at her much taller sibling, "Zack?" "In the flesh, little sister.." They embraced, Raine pulling back and looking up at him again, then at Max, a tear escaped one of her eyes and slid down her cheek, "This is all so much, two siblings in the same day!" Zack took his little sister in his arms and hugged her again, "Don't cry, it's all better now." Logan, guessing that this was a very personal moment for the pseudo-siblings wheeled off into his office, sitting infront of his computer and bring up his 'Eyes Only' Informants Log, typing up physical information of Raine he collected from what he saw of her already. Raine followed him, Max still keeping distance in the other room, "That's Rain with an E," she inputted. "Do you have a supposed last name?" he asked, turning towards her. "Smith," she answered, giving him a smile. Logan laughed, "That's original." Raine shrugged, "As good as you can get though, my barcode's 3-3-0-9-1-7-0-0-4-4-5-9. Birthday's February 29, 2002." He chuckled, "So what, you're about four and a half?" She glared at him. "Sorry, sorry. I assume you were born the same place Max and Zack were?" he asked, which earned him another look, "No wedding ring..." Raine eyed the 'notes' column suspiciously. Logan noticed her look, "Don't worry, I add onto that as I get to know you better." She nodded, "What's this all for, anyway?"she asked. Logan shrugged, "I collect information for Max on her siblings." **** Smith, Raine Barcode No.: 330917004459 DOB: 2.29.2002 POB: Vivadyne Labs, Gillette Wyoming MARITAL STATUS: Single KNOWN RELATIVES: N/A NOTES: Very paranoid. ********* "I saw that!" Raine exclaimed. He just shrugged, "Is it false?" he asked. Raine shook her head, "Paranoia helps, keeps the boys at arms length, and Mighty Manny even farther." Logan laughed as he wheeled out of the office, "Lunch anyone?" he asked the three guests in his living room, Max was on the floor picking up stray glass. "Max, don't do that- you'll hurt yourself ..." Logan touched her shoulder, which she quickly shied away from. "I'll be fine," she said, hoping that her voice didn't sound as false to him as it did to her. Zack sent another glare Logan's way and bent down to help her. Logan took this as a hint, slightly hurt by her sudden boundaries, he rolled into the kitchen. Raine followed him, hopping onto a counter, "Don't take it personally," she said, picking up an apple, "We were taught not to get too close to each other, much less those around us." He turned his head to look at her, "I don't know what you're talking about," he lied, grabbing a pan and filling it up with water. Rolling her eyes, Raine took a bite of the apple, "Don't lie to me!" Logan turned to her, "Why are you so childish?" he asked. Raine, hurt by the statement took another bite from the apple and chewed on it, swallowing it quickly, "I'm usually not. I'm one of the youngest, didn't you know? Just turned eighteen," she said, as if it were an excuse, "I never had a childhood. I guess I'm making up for that sometimes." He nodded his head and set the noodles on the range, turning the electric stove on, "You remind me a lot of my little sister, when she was alive." She shrugged, "What happened? If you don't mind me asking..." Logan turned to her again, "I do mind you asking, it's painful- I don't want to talk about it." "I have a lot of painful memories, in fact- when we were back at Mighty Manny, one of the male guards got his jollies from taking me away from my classes and.... um..., anyway- he told me if I told anyone, that'd he'd tell them I was a 'dysfunctional product' and then I would be elimated, long story short though, it's one of the million reasons Zack broke us out of there," she said, worrying the apple. He picked up a bag of small noodles, weighing it, "My sister was killed the night the pulse hit, she was working part- time at the local mall an electronics store for her own cash; not that my parents wouldn't give her any, but she wanted her OWN money, she said it was a way of proving herself; anyway, looters came, she refused to give them anything- being the honest girl she was, they killed her ..."the noodles in the bag he was holding had crushed into small bits, "My father couldn't handle it, since my mother had already passed away- he killed himself, leaving the 'family fortune' to me. You're the only other person that knows now, next to Max." Raine jumped down and patted him on the shoulder, "It's 'kay. It was in the past. Now, though, in the present- you're noodles have been crushed," she pointed towards the bag in his hand, "Oh well! It'll just be noodle soup!" Logan blinked, "That's what it was in the first place!" he exclaimed, feeling as though a heavy weight had been lifted, for the time being. She giggled and dumped the noodles in the boiling water, "You're so cute, no wonder why Max is in love with you." Okay, that stopped him cold. "Ex..excuse me?!" His eyes went wide, and he went speechless. "I assumed..," she made a finger movement between him and the door to the living room, she shrugged, "Well, whatever." ******* end 4/? ******* Max is going through heat, which will be reveled in the next chapter. I summed up that going through heat for an actual human female is much like going through PMS; with moodswings, horomones stretched, except that it lasts for about twenty-four hours, the first half is the worst, since in the episode 'Heat,' Max quoted, "Thank God, the worst of it is over ...if I can just get through the next 12 hours without doing something I'm going to regret. " I'm guessing that night she thought that with Kendra and O.C. around she could control herself. Guess not. Anyway, that's my reason she's outta character and emotional in this fanfic. ******* Review!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Please?! Last updated 4/4/01: Changed Logan's chair arms to wheels because I noticed he doesn't have arms on his chair.
