| For those of you that are avid sports fans, the month of June is very exciting. Major League Baseball and the National Hockey League held their amateur drafts recently. Since good talent is hard to find, some teams would do ANYTHING to acquire top prospects. Baseball went first. All 30 teams participated, but there was a slight glitch. Apparently, three different teams drafted me as their number one choice!!!! First, was the Arizona Diamondbacks. I was tempted to sign with them because my Grandpa Villier lives in the Phoenix area and can watch me play. Next up was the Cincinnati Reds. Like Ken Griffey, Jr., I was born and raised in Cincinnati and it's my Grandpa Kelly's favorite team. Finally, the St. Louis Cardinals came calling. It's Daddy's favorite baseball team and getting the chance to bat behind Albert Puljos and Jim Edmonds was very appealing! Before I could make my decision, the NHL had their draft and wouldn't you know it - they wanted me too! Another one of Daddy's favorite teams, the St. Louis Blues, wanted me to play hockey instead. After reaching the conference finals last year, they were going to a youth movement with their roster. Since I'm only 6 1/2 months, I guess they were looking for real young players! Later, the NFL's St. Louis Rams drafted me, too! Backing up Kurt Warner and spiraling a ball downfield to Isaac Bruce and Marshall Faulk would be a dream come true! What to do? Do I go to Arizona and play with Randy Johnson and Luis Gonzales, play for St. Louis with Fernando Vina and Jim Edmonds, stay home with Sean Casey and Junior, become a hockey star with Chris Pronger and Al MacInnis or take the Rams to another Super Bowl? After careful thought, and flipping a few coins, I came with one and only one logical solution......... I chose to spend my developmental years with..... THE ANAHEIM ANGELS!!!!!! |
