Mark of
the Beast
Mark of the
Beast on the
Forehead or the Right Hand
“And He deceives those who dwell on the earth by those signs which he was granted to do in the sight of the beast, telling those who dwell on the earth to make an image to the beast, that the image of the beast who was wounded by the sword and lived. He was granted power to give breath to the image of the beast, that the image of the beast should both speak and cause as many as would not worship the image of the beast to be killed. And he causes all, both small and great, rich and poor, free and slave, to receive a mark on their right hand or on their foreheads.” (Rev. 13:14-16)
Mark on the Forehead
The word mosque derives from the Arabic “masjid”
which literally means the place of prostration (sujud). This is the position in Islamic ritual prayers (namaz), in which the forehead of the worshipper touches the ground in the supreme act of submission and surrender before Allah.
Every devout Muslim worships five times each day. It is called “Salat” during which time he faces Mecca and bows down in prostration with his forehead touching the floor. Here is the quotation from the Qur'an.
"Muhammad is the Apostle of God; and those who
are with him are firm against unbelievers, compassionate towards one another.
You see them bowing and prostrating, seeking grace from God and His
satisfaction ... The mark of prostration shows on their faces. . . Allah has
promised those among them who believe and do righteous deeds forgiveness, and a
great reward." (ch. 48. v. 29)
When the devout Muslims pray they must touch their foreheads
to the ground. In order to avoid
breathing in the dust when they do this, they cover their mouths with their
hand. The result is a dust mark on their hand and on their forehead. This is
the mark described in the Qur'an.
Mohammad said in the Qur'an that this mark refers to his followers: "The mark of them is on their foreheads from the traces of [their] prostration."
