My father...the most influential person in my younger years, moved on to Glory on February 5, 1988 at the age of 52 from a heart attack. He was an honest, loving and humble man. He was a painter by profession and an Army Staff Sergeant in the service. He loved to tell jokes. He loved to see justice. He loved Bruce Springsteen, caramel candy, beef jerky, and Big Chew bubble gum and watching boxing matches. He loved the kids in our neighborhood and took them in when they were in trouble. He always gave his last dollar to friends and family that were in need. When people wronged him, he just turned the other cheek and took it in stride. We took many trips to Canada. He loved to fish and filet them too. He loved to bow hunt. We always had a dog. He snored so loud the roof shook at night. |

| Daddy's favorite sayings: "Haste makes waste." "Don't drink or do drugs, and don't ever love anyone more than you love life." My favorite childhood memory: Eating the hottest, spiciest food with my dad until our lips turned white and numb. My last living memory of my dad: I was 13, it was a winter morning and dad drove me to the bus stop. The bus was coming and he was afraid to ask for a kiss because my friends were watching and he didn't want to embarrass me. But excitedly, I gave him a big kiss and thought how silly he was for thinking that. I jumped out of his Dodge pick-up truck and got on the school bus, heading to school not knowing that would be the last time I saw his face and kissed it. Thank God I gave him that kiss... |
