New Support Group Forms
HOPE (Helping Others Prevent Eating Disorders) is a new support group dedicated to helping those touched by eating disorders. It is designed to be a "safe place" to share feelings and, more importantly, gain tools to use in recovery from serious eating disorders.
Additionally, this new group provides information to assist friends and family to fully understand the nature of these disorders.
HOPE meets on Tuesday evenings from 7:00 - 8:00 PM at St. Mary's Health Education Building (Classroom B).
For more information you are encouraged to contact Leslie at 517-381-1565 (weekdays) and at 517-753-9473 on weekends.
Bush Running Mate Dick Cheney Didn't Vote for Bush
Republican Vice Presidential nominee Dick Cheney didn't vote in recent elections, the Dallas Morning News reported September 8th, 2000. Bush's running mate flat out didn't vote in 14 of the last 16 elections since registering to vote in Dallas County, Texas, in late 1995.
"Dick Cheney didn't even vote in Texas' presidential primary last March," Michigan Democratic Party Chair Mark Brewer pointed out. "If Cheney didn't vote for Bush, why should the rest of America?"
To help Cheney exercise his civic duty this November, Brewer sent Cheney information on how to apply for an absentee ballot from his new place of registration in Teton County, Wyoming.
"We send this information to Cheney because we wanted him to know that even when you're busy campaigning out of state there is always time for your civic duty," Brewer said. "Apparently, Cheney is a candidate who cares more about exercising his stock options than his right to vote. He hasn't voted in a single local election in more than five years."
If one thought Cheney's voting record in Congress was bad - he voted against Head Start, The Clean Water Act, and against freeing Nelson Mandela from jail - his history of going to the polls in Texas is even worse.
