About
Me

Hello!

I'm Reve Walker. And before I ever start this, let me warn you that I hate talking about myself. So, with that said, forgive me.

I've lived in rural Georgia all my life and it has helped to shape the type of writer I've become. When you live in the country, play time takes a little imagination. I've lived in the same area my entire life and it has instilled in me a strong sense of family and tradition. While the other kids were riding horses or milking cows, playing with their dolls or trucks, I was writing myself all over the world.

The first story I wrote was in the 4th grade and told the tale of  a Dutch Cinderella. Ever since then, any story that worked it's way into my mind has somehow found it's way onto paper. You'll find me writing almost anything: from poems to short stories to novels and even fanfiction from time to time.

What more can I tell you? I love animals, kids, cooking, foreign languages, music, movies, and, of course, books. I love old movies, one of my favorites being Top Gun. Of course, that's only the beginning. From Hell, The Bride, xXx, Elizabethtown, Footloose, Billy Jack, Pirates of the Caribbean, Finding Neverland, A Walk to Remember, Corpse Bride, Psycho, Phantom of the Opera....And the list goes on...and on...and on. I love older music as well. On any given night, you can find me listening to anything from The Eagles to Keith Urban to Crossfade to Broadway music, and even, on those special nights when the mood is right, soothing piano music. And when it comes to books, I could open my own library. I adore Edgar Allen Poe in all shapes and forms. All his poetry, short stories, essays- He was truly a brilliant man and it's no wonder his name is synonymous with words such as creepy and terror and insanity. I also love Wilde's Picture of Dorian Gray and Anne Rice's Vampire Chronicles (Marius' story, Blood and Gold being my favorite), as well as Violin and The Mummy. The Hobbit by J.R.R. Tolkein is another favorite and anything written by the duo Douglas Preston and Lincoln Child. Stoker's Dracula is a rich novel that once I finished, completely captured me, much like Shakespeare's work tends to do. I'm not your typical girl by any means. I also love anything that has to do with the paranormal or supernatural and vampires have a special place in my mind. I'm overly fascinated by the myths and legends that surround them. I love to write about them as well. Whether they're dark and dangerous or sensual and alluring, I love them all. Sure, they bite, but it isn't enough to turn me away.

I have two dogs- a three year old Jack Russell Terrier named Champ and a 8 month old German Shepherd puppy, affectionately named Marius after my favorite Vampire (which ends up being a mouthful, so he just answers to Mar, Ree or Bub). They're the biggest babies in the world- my babies. If I'm not writing, you can usually find me in the backyard, being pounced on  and knocked to the ground by Marius or receiving a frenzy of kisses from little Champ.

I draw a lot of inspiration from my life, including the tales with my dogs, family, and friends. Past experiences, I've found, are one of the greatest motivators for writing. If at all possible, write what you know. It's easier and your work will be more believable and heartfelt because of it. If you've never traveled out of the States, don't try to write a novel, or even a short story, set in London or Paris. There's no way you could know enough about it. There are some things that only come with the experience that you wouldn't include. Maybe you disagree, but it's just a little rule of thumb I follow.

And I guess, from this, you can see some of my scatterbrained thinking. My thoughts do jump from one thing to another, and only, when I'm writing a story does it all seem to flow. I'm an anal note taker and I follow my outlines as closely as possible, throwing in variation when it feels right. I love my characters as if they were a part of my family, even if I do put them through Hell sometimes. So, with that said, if you're interested, check out the stories, linked on the Welcome page. If not, then, my dear, it's been a pleasure babbling to you and I hope you'll revisit sometime when you can.
