Just Like the Stars
Walking down the street today, I swore I saw her face,
But it was just another billboard standing in her place.
High upon the buildings, and always out of reach,
The security of her heart that I know I can't breech.

Looking out the window, I swore I saw her eyes,
but it was just the sun and rays through the clouds on the rise.
Over my head it lingers, and always out of reach,
Just like my hand that struggles to touch her cheek.

Just like the stars, she's always out of reach.
I cannot catch her as she falls
or watch her as I sleep.
In the morning when I wake, she is always gone,
but the thought of her still pushes me on.

Gliding through the air, I swore I saw her smile,
But it was just the wisp of clouds floating on the isle.
Near the heavens they stay, and always out of reach,
just like my words that fight her ears to meet.

Listening to the wind, I swore I heard her voice,
But it was just the birds singing high up in the trees.
Flying free from the ground, and always out of reach
just like her spirit as I know that we will never be.

Just like the stars, she's always out of reach
I cannot catch her as she falls
or watch her as I sleep.
In the morning when I wake, she is always gone,
but the thought of her, doesn't push me on.

Though she may be there somewhere,
I know I'll never find
anyone to match her
and no one to be mine.

Just like the stars, she's always out of reach.
I cannot catch her as she falls
or watch her as I sleep.
In the morning when I wake, I know she wasn't there,
just a wish that lingers in the starless night air.
