If you IM me, I will IM back if I am here. Description of this FAQ: This FAQ is designed with one goal in mind, to defeat Hard Mode! In no way is it designed to: 1) Attain Onimusha Rank 2) Open all 100 of the scenarios 3) Attaining any of the other Onimusha 2 Extras Note: I have 1 more out of 100 scenarios to get. I have found it is where you have to get the Stamina Drink for Ekei. So if it does not hinder me getting items such as Power Jewels, Magic Jewels, Herbs, or other such items, I will try my hardest to get Ekei to be my main sub-character. The only thing required to use this FAQ is that you have beaten Onimusha 2 on the Normal setting. There are plenty of other walkthroughs on GameFAQs that can you help you to do this. Remember, the goal of this FAQ is to beat Hard Mode. Q: What happens if you beat Hard Mode? A: You can start the game with: 1) Rekka-Ken (the most powerful weapon in the game!) 2) Unlimited Magic 3) Tanegashima (gun) + Unlimited Normal Bullets 4) Tri-Barrel + Unlimited Burst Bullets 5) Bow + Unlimited Arrows 6) Bow + Unlimited Fire Arrows 7) Talisman x 10 8) Perfect Medicine x 30 9) All Armor at Level 3 Activate this under the Special Feature option at the Title Screen. You will see Ultimate Mode. Turn it on, start a new game, and kick some ass! No Time Limit is required, so take as much time in the game as you like! ************************************************************************************************* A. WALKTHROUGH Skip through the cut-scenes by pressing Start if possible. Use this strategy for all the cut-scenes you have already seen. I will not notify when a cut-scene appears, so keep that in mind. Jubei starts out in his hometown called Yagyu Village. You should save your game in case you die so you don't have to restart a new game. First Note: Never use your Red Orbs to Enhance Weapons or Armors unless told to do so! Second Note: Red777777's Issen FAQ, found at (http://db.gamefaqs.com/console/ps2/file/onimusha_2_issen.txt) is helpful if you don't know how to Issen. The general rule of thumb is to hold R1 and strafe around your opponent (pressing left or right while holding R1). Right when the enemy strikes, press Square. The more difficult enemies take more precise actions to Issen. Third Note: Throughout the FAQ, I will tell you where I used a Healing Item. This is usually against a boss. You can make up any Healing Item deficits in the room prior to fighting Jujudormah. So if you absolutely must use additional Healing Items, you can. Don't ever drop to 0 Healing Items, have an ample supply at all times. Kill the Oda soldiers by Issens or by regular attacks. I also recommend running away if you can since you do not getting any Red Orbs as of yet. It's best to kill the soldiers as quickly as possible, but Defense is the key to staying alive at the beginning of the game. Continue further down the path unto the next area. The next area is a bit tougher since there is an Archer pegging away at your life. You will most likely have to fight most of the enemies here. Pick up the Yagyu Village Map from the chest. When you get to the next area, there should be a chest with an Herb to the right. Make sure to slash the bamboo with your sword. Continue towards the left and pick up the Frog. Continue into the cave. Advance through the cave until you get to Takajo. You should get the Charity Orb and Play Instructions. Make sure to get the Herb from the chest. Continue through the cave fighting enemies. Once you exit the cave, go back to the first save point. DO NOT go to the Dragon Shrine and get the Buraitou. Once you have backtracked to the save point and have saved your game, go through the doors to the left. Keep going up and slice the closet doors to get the Abacus from the chest. All the way down the hallway, which is to your left, is an Archer. Make sure to take him out first to avoid frustration. Open the puzzle box. The solution is press the right-most arrow on the top row and the bottom arrow on the right side. Inside is a Power Jewel. Go back to the beginning of the hallway. Immediately to your right should be a chest. Open it and you will get a Kaleidoscope. Kill the Oda Soldiers and Samurais, preferably by Issen to get the most Orbs. Go into the room and go towards the camera. Inside the room is an Artwork#10 (Note:all Artworks look like scrolls) and slash the panel on the wall for a Four Guardians:Right. Go into the other room, away from the camera, and get the Fork from the chest. Beware of the rats! Follow the other way out of the room and go through the door. In this room, you should see an opening to the outside. If you are low on Health and want to conserve your energy, stand close to the door, but not close enough to where you can get slashed by an Oda soldier or Samurai. As a soldier or samurai comes into the room, press Up+Square to slash them down. Go through the opening. Once the camera angle changes from the room, go away from the camera towards the right side. Get a Wasabi among the bushes/weeds/grass. Go into both rooms and collect the Oolong Tea and the Four Guardians:Left. Make your way back to the first save point. Save. Now go the Dragon Shrine and collect Buraitou. You will leave this area automatically and be in Imasho Town. Talk to the guy across from the bar opening a few times to receive Confetti. Back track to the other side of town (towards the camera outside of the bar entrance). Collect the Globe in the red chest. Go into the next area and talk to the guy next to the entrance a couple of times for the Ancient Documents. Go towards the stables and look for the chest on the right side of the screen. It's barely visible. Collect the Tengu Mask. Go back near the bar entrance and continue going forward. Go towards the right side of the screen and collect the Imasho Town map. Go into the building right above. Smash all the barrels until you reach a elevator type platform. Make sure to pick up the Cloth now. Go back towards the entrance of the building and hit the switch. Run back to the elevator platform. Take it up and collect the Bow from the box. Head back down and go back towards the bar. Go into the bar. Go upstairs and collect the Folding Fan. Go down stairs and towards the back. Pick up the Pipe in the chest, refill your magic if need be, and save! We need 2,200 Gold to buy out the store. We also need 100 to buy a Mountain Permit from the guy inside the bar. Raise a grand total of 3,000 to collect Red Orbs and practice Issens. Go back towards the building where you got the Bow. Continue towards the left and head into the woods. Search along the left side of the trail for a Unique Mushroom. Open the chest and collect the Telescope. Kill all the enemies here and make sure to collect the Beetle. It is close in the area where the screen shows a close up of a tree on the left side of the screen. Search towards the middle of this screen by continually pressing X. You should get the Beetle after a minute or so. Continue along the path. There is guy blocking the way and he says that you need a Mountain Permit. Backtrack from this point. Continue fighting enemies until your health is low. Go back and Save. Continue fighting and refill your energy. If you die, simply reload your file and try again. When you have about 3,000 Gold, go into the shop (the opening is a little before the bar's coming from the woods). Buy out the store. Go inside the bar and buy the Mountain Permit from the guy standing in front of the door that is close to the Save mirror. Going into bar, advance the story. Then go outside and talk to both guys nearby where you got the Imasho Town map. They will talk about Kotaro stealing a wallet or something of the sort. Once old dialogue is repeated, go to the second story of the bar and you will meet Kotaro. Get the Fur Skin by one of the guys next to Kotaro and the History Book vol.9. I neglected to do this. You can trade the Fur Skin either to Oyu or Ekei. You can get a good item from this. Go back to the Save Point and Save! Don't Save over this file in case you make a mistake in trading! You should start trading with Ekei first, because that is what I did. We will trade A items with all available characters first, then move unto B items once all the A items are complete. You should always give the items in the order I listed! B1. ITEM TRADING FIRST OCCURRENCE EKEI Vodka - First given, Secret Medicine Folding Fan Grilled Fish Telescope Tengu Mask Out of the four trades (Folding Fan-Tengu Mask) we want to receive a Power Jewel, Magic Jewel, Medicine, and Music Box. Save the game (over a new block, not the last one as I stated before). MAGOICHI Ancient Documents - First Given, Super M. Liquid Blue Parrot Pipe Out of the two trades, we want a Power Jewel and a Magic Jewel. Save the game. KOTARO Conch Shell Globe Kaleidoscope Magnetic Compass Out of the four trades, we want a Power Jewel, Medicine, and Strategy Book. Save the game. MAGOICHI Strategy Book You will receive the Hard Boots to give to Oyu at a later time. B ITEMS EKEI Frog Wasabi Get an Herb and a Fossilized Bone. Save the game. MAGOICHI Abacus Unique Mushroom Get a Fossilized Bone and a European Hat. Save the game. KOTARO European Hat (is an A item, try to get a Medicine!) Cloth Confetti Get two Herbs. Back to the Walkthrough: Collect the History Book Vol.4 past the man you show the permit to. Go into the Gold Mines. Travel to the left side first and collect the Demon Wall Scroll. Open the puzzle box. The solution is bottom arrow on the right side, left arrow on the bottom row. You should get the Baraitou secret. Press Down, Up, Square to execute the attack. Hit Square again near the end of the attack to execute an additional attack. Back track to the beginning room of the mine and Save. Go on the right path now. Pick up the Gold Mine map on the way. To defeat the Alligator-looking soldiers (Jaido), hold R1 and move left or right to strafe. When it raises its sword wait for it to slash and then hit Square. The game gives you some leeway to perform an Issen, so you should be able to kill it no problem. Try to pick soldiers that are by themselves and not packed in groups. It will make life easier. When you get to the fork, go right (towards the camera) to the next room. There will be a lot of enemies here to fight. Once you clear them out, a second round will appear but a sub-character will come to your aid. Kill all the enemies and go into the next room. Pick up the Five Oni Orbs file from the chest. Go to the Dragon Statue and collect the Hyoujin-Yari, the spear weapon. Back track to the fork and go down the only path you haven't gone yet. Continue past this area, fighting Jaido if need be. Go into the next room and collect the Medicine from the chest. Insert the Charity Orb into the hole, but DON'T go into the next room yet! Go to the Magic Mirror and Save. Your goal now is to get the Yagyu Armor to Level 2, the Baraitou to Level 2, and the Yagyu Armor to Level 3. The best place to do this is in the previous room, a good and easy place to use Issen. I know it takes 23 Red Orb bars to go from Level 2 Yagyu Armor to Level 3. I neglected to write down the number of bars for Level 1 to Level 2. This is where the FAQ begun! TO DEFEAT GINGHAMPHATTS: Healing Items used: None Before fighting. Have Level 2 Baraitou and Level 3 Yagyu Armor. Health and Magic should be full. Have 4 Purples Orbs so you only need one more to turn into an Oni warrior. Ginghamphatts should not be able to do too much damage to you since you have Level 3 Yagyu Armor. When the battle first starts, use all your Baraitou Magic. Be sure to collect souls each time you use the Magic Attack. Whenever you get your 5th Oni Orb, collect all the Souls then keep swinging your sword. Once your Oni meter gets low, start collecting all the souls. Hurry up and switch to the Hyoujin-Yari. Use all of its Magic Attack, making sure to collect souls after each use. After this, change to your sword and block when he swings his pick-axe. Continue doing this until you get more magic or you are able to turn into an Oni Warrior again. You shouldn't have to call in your sub-character. It shouldn't hurt anything if you have to, though. END GINGHAMPHATTS BATTLE Make sure to collect all the souls and gold. It would be wise to backtrack to the nearby Save Point and save. Save all your souls! Go past the battle site and past the man on the ground. Collect the Mirror from the chest. Open the puzzle box. The solution is right arrow on the bottom row, top arrow on the right side, left arrow on the bottom row, and bottom arrow on the right side. Now go to the Old Man you passed. You will automatically be transported back in Imasho Town. He will give you the Red Ring. You will need 5100 Gold to buy all the good from the store. You will need 50 Gold to buy the Potassium Nitrate Map. You should have enough. If not, go back to the woods and get 5150 Gold for the goods and the Potassium Nitrate Map. Buy the Potassium Nitrate Map from the guy relatively close to the Save Point that is behind the bar. Go back to the store and talk to the group of guys. One guy will give you some Chalk. Give it to Ekei for Tale of the Heike. Trade it to Magoichi for Emblem. Trade this to Kotaro for the Melon. Take this to the guy who gave you the Chalk in the first place. His father will be here when you buy goods at the store for a 3rd time. Make sure to pick up the Orange Necklace. Go and talk to Ekei. He will mention a woman who stole something from him. This requires that you are "best friends" is Ekei. Go back to the Horse Stables. Go towards the East side (your East) and you will see a lady. Talk to her and she will go to the second floor of the bar, on the balcony. Talk to her again and she will go inside the building where you got the Bow towards the front. Talk to her again and she will go back to the Horse Stables. Talk to her and get the Broken Bell. Near the entrance to this area is a woman dressed in yellow. Talk to her a couple of times to get the History Book vol.2. There is a guy who walks in an out of this place. Talk to him a couple of times to get a Bouquet. Talk to guy on the bench in front of the Horse stables a couple of times. He will give you a Magic Jewel. Make sure to use it! Go back to the second floor of the bar. Talk to the guy to Kotaro's right a couple of times to get the Pick. Now go Save! B2. ITEM TRADING SECOND OCCURRENCE EKEI Broken Bell - Hyoujin-Yari Tech.1 Fudo Leg Guard - Buraitou Tech.1 MAGOICHI Western Boots - Buraitou Tech.2 Plant Book - Fire Arrow KOTARO Keimyo Hachimaki - Hyoujin-Yari Tech.2 Fairy Tale Book - Medicine Lemon - Magic Jewel Go back through the woods to the Gold Mines. You will face a new type of enemy. Practice Issening them. Get to the Mines and talk to the guy a couple of times for Dice. Now collect the Potassium Nitrate deposits. Look under File, Picture, Map: P.Nitrate for the locations. It's pretty straight-forward. You might see an enemy holding Kotaro on the way through the mines. I decided to fight so I could get more Red Orbs. It's going to be a tough road to get all the P. Nitrates and to beat all the enemies. But it's not impossible. Hopefully your skills are up to snuff! You should get back to the Save Point in front of Ginghamphatts' room. Remember, you have to take the 3 Potassium Nitrates to Magoichi and trade them to him for the 3 rounds of Burst Bullets. Go into the next room, and Magoichi should help you defeat the enemies. The best strategy here is to block while Magoichi attacks. Contribute when you seen an opening. At this point, I decided to upgrade the Buraitou as well as the Foot Armor. It takes 18 Red Soul Bars to raise Buraitou from Level 2 to Level 3. It takes 8 Red Soul Bars to raise Foot Armor from Level 1 to Level 2. It takes 8 Red Soul Bars to raise Foot Armor from Level 1 to Level 2. Go to the platform after Ginghamphatts' room. Use the Red Ring on the platform and go into the light by pressing X. Kill both enemies with your Magic Attack. Go into the next room and go to Jubei's left. Get the Crystal Ball from the chest. Now, go up the staircase. There is an enemy near the top so beware. When your get out, go towards the back into the double doors. Get the Gifu Keep Tower Map from the first chest and the Incense from the other chest. Go through the left door to refill your magic and to solve a puzzle. The solution to the puzzle is 6 top left, 8 top right, 2 bottom left, and 4 bottom right. You should get a Bronze Mask (Right). Go into the next room and fight all the enemies with Ekei. Get the Herb from the chest. The solution to the puzzle box in the next room is bottom arrow right side, right arrow top row, and top arrow left side. You should get a Power Jewel for your efforts. Be sure to use it. In the next room, put the Bronze Mask (Right) on the door. Be sure to Save. Go to the next area. This is a good place to fight and earn more Red Souls. Be sure to heal here and go back and save. Pick up the History Book vol.1 in the chest, then enter the door right next to it. Talk to the man and pick up the Demons' History behind him. Exit this room and go up the stairs. Ekei will help you fight the enemies here. Enter the double doors. Go towards the left side of the screen and kill the Archer. Enter the door. Open the chest and get the Herb. Pick up the shiny object (Purify Charm) that is on top of the fireplace. Backtrack to the man who needs this. Use it on him. Pick up the Bronze Mask (Left). Go back and put this on the door where you put the Bronze Mask (Right). Save! Go through the door, kill the two enemies, backtrack and pick up the Medicine and Save. Make sure to be at full Health. Raise your Arm Armor to Level 3. It takes approximately 17 Red Orb bars to go from Level 2 Arm Armor to Level 3 Arm Armor. Save then go through the door the two enemies were guarding. FIGHTING GOGANDANTES Healing Items used: None You cannot kill or damage Gogandantess. Just continually swing at him. Block if he is swinging his sword and you are not. Your Arm Armor should allow you to clash swords with him pretty easily. END BOSS BATTLE Oyu will drop a rope and Jubei will automatically climb it. Follow the path out. Talk to Oyu and get the Faith Orb. When you have control of Jubei, go to the bar and Save. Go to the store and talk to the guy in green. He is in the area where a person earlier gave you the Chalk. You should receive the Orange Necklace. Buy all the Items for the store owner. Talk to him again and you will get the White Necklace. You have bought all the Items as told, right? Use the White Necklace to restore all of your health. Now you have learned the use of the White Necklace! Save. Buy the Black Beer that you first see from the Save Point. Go back to the area right before the Horse Stables. Wait for a drunken guy to walk through the opening. Talk to him a couple of times and you will receive the Taizo Mandala. Talk to merchant to left of the opening several times to get the Comb. Go to the Horse Stables and talk to the guy close to your metallic horse. He should give you Glass. Go the Save Mirror and Save on a different file in case you mess up while trading. B3. ITEM TRADING THIRD OCCURRENCE OYU (all A Items) Comb - Super M. Liquid Hard Boots - Secret Medicine Phirangi - Dokoutsui Tech.1 Rouge - Pirates Costume Silver Armor - Senpumaru Tech.1 OYU (all A Items) Crystal Ball - Power Jewel Fork - Magic Jewel Glass - Medicine Hair Ornament - Sake from Kaga Love Potion - Normal Bullet Red Parrot - Medicine MAGOICHI (all A Items) Black Beer - Medicine Goraishinki - Dokoutsui Tech.2 KOTARO Black Pill - Herb Dice - Fossilized Bone Green Parrot - Artwork #3 Pandora's Box - Medicine Pocket Watch - Normal Bullet Gabishi - Normal Bullet Mirror - Herb History Book vol.8 - Normal Bullet OYU Beetle - Herb History Book vol.2 - Herb Incense - Fire Arrow MAGOICHI Brown Chicken - Fire Arrow History Book vol.1 - Cameo History Book vol.10 - Normal Bullet Pirates Costume - Secret Medicine EKEI Houtengeki - Normal Bullet Naughty Novel - Hien Kyahan Calligraphy Kit - Fancy Paper History Book vol.4 - Deer Horn History Book vol.5 - Normal Arrow Pick - Normal Arrow Sake from Kaga - Normal Bullet Salt - Normal Arrow Taizo Mandala - Normal Bullet OYU Deer Horn - Fire Arrow KOTARO Hien Kyahan - Super M. Liquid Chicken - Fire Arrow Cameo - Normal Bullet MAGOICHI Fancy Paper - Normal Bullet EKEI Dead Flowers - Watermelon KOTARO Watermelon - Normal Arrow EKEI Gold Chicken - Normal Bullet Pair Ring - Normal Bullet (have to be highly favored with Ekei for it to be a favorable item) Go back to the Mines and talk to the guy in the very first room. He will give you the Loaded Dice. Go back to the bar and give it to Ekei to receive a Normal Bullet. We're now through with trading! I have 13 Herbs in my inventory along with 10 Medicines, 4 Secret Medicines, 3 Super M. Liquids, and 3 Fossilized Bones. Make sure to Save and replenish your Magic. Go outside and head towards the Horse Stables. We're not going to them, though. In the next screen talk to the lady with the umbrella. This one of the funnier moments in the game if you watch the cinema. You should return back to Yagyu Village. Go back to Takajo's cave. Defeat the enemies here and go to where Takajo is. Pick up the Ring of Takajo and head back to the only Save point in the village and Save. Go into Jubei's house and head to the room just before where you go outside to get the Wasabi, Oolong Tea, and the other piece of the Four Guardians picture. Examine the dresser. The solution to the puzzle is Top:Black, Bottom:Red, Left:White, and Right:Blue. Climb down the ladder and attempt to jump clear accross the pit. Press up to pull yourself up and continue onward. Cut the rope and immediately hit R2 and run back towards the pit. Don't press Up until the blades pass. Pull yourself up, hit R2 and now run to the next area. You should be in Fog Valley. Save if you like. Continue fighting and climbing ladders. You should eventually get to a wooden bridge. Open the chest in the next area to get an Herb. Open the next chest to get Fog Valley map. Examine the Dragon Statue for the Senpumaru. Go back to the down the first two ladders and hit the barrier to get Nobunaga's Knowledge. Go back to the Save Point and go left towards the woods. Continue onward fighting enemies. Eventually you will get lost. KOTARO SIDE QUEST At this point, you will play as Kotaro. You want to go to where Jubei is, but you will have to take a few detours since you cannot go through the woods. Make sure you open the Black chest that is close to you for the Blue Bracelet. Open the chest close to where you got Nobunaga's Knowledge for the Red Wedge. Proceed to the Wooden Bridge. The Red Phantom Realm is here, but we need to get another item so go to the next area and Save. Climb along the right side wall to proceed to the next area. Avoid the fish creatures and open the Black Box to get the Stealth Costume. Equip this. Run back to the Save mirror. If your Health and Magic are filled to their max, you can now go to the Red Phantom Level. This area can be easy or difficult. It depends on how skillful you are at Issen. There are five total stages. Go through the Light Beam that has an eye-looking thing at the bottom to proceed to the next stage. The Light Beam without the eye will transport you out of the Red Phantom Realm. Make sure to pick up the Medicine in the chest on Level 3. There are two chests containing a Blue Wedge and the Roga-Kunai on the Level 5, the last level. You should also see a star in the middle screen of this area (on the left side). Press X to get the Red Stone Pole. Hopefully you can get through this area without using any Healing Items. Go back to the Save mirror and Save. Make sure to get your Health and Magic to their max again. Venture to where you got the Stealth costume. Continue onward, exiting this area. Continue along the path, until you get to another Save mirror. Save here and cross the mini-lake and enter the doors. Head towards the camera and solve the puzzle. The solution is left arrow bottom row, middle arrow right side. You should get the Senpumaru Secret. Head away from the camera and use the Blue Wedge on the light path. Enter the light path to enter the Blue Phantom Realm. There are five levels. On Level 3 is a Medicine and on Level 5 is the Blue Pole. Limit your healing item usage to an Herb and a Medicine. If you are proficient at Issen, you might make it through without using an Healing items. The Red Bull on Level 5 is what made me use those two healing items. Head back to the Save Point after you are done. It's time to level up the Foot Armor and the Senpumaru. It's quite possible you have enough Red Orbs for both. If not, kill enemies until you get the adequate amount. It takes 17 Red Orb Bars to go from Level 2 Foot Armor to Level 3 Foot Armor. It takes 9 Red Orb Bars to go from Level 1 Senpumaru to Level 2 Senpumaru. Make sure you have 4 Oni Orbs, max Health and max Magic. Make sure the Baraitou is equipped. Right by the Save mirror is a totem-pole. Use the Red Pole and the Blue Pole on it and it should disappear. Proceed into the area. You should regain control of Jubei. Exit this area by heading away from the camera. Time to fight GINGHAMPHATTS for the second time. TO DEFEAT GINGHAMPHATTS, AGAIN Healing Items used: one Herb You start the battle relatively close to him. Press Triangle and unleash on him. Collect the orbs each time and press Triangle again. If you go Oni during this time, slash him continuously with your sword. When you have about 20% of your Oni bar left, be sure to collect the souls. If he runs into the bushes, press Triangle to insure that you get some hits in on him. If he doesn't run into the bushes, equip Hyoujin-Yari and use its Magic. Collect souls after each time you press Triangle. When you run out of Magic, equip the Senpumaru and repeat the same strategy. If he has not ran into the bushes at this time, just slash him and block when he swings his pick-axe. When Ginghamphatts runs into the bushes, he will run across the path to the other side. The best strategy here is to run up and down the path, using R2 to turn around when you get to the end of either side. If at sometime his back is to you when you are facing him, get in a few slashes. Only when you are are really low on energy should use an Herb. Use it when he swings at you, you are not blocking, and this attack will surely kill you. Quickly press Start when this happens. You should get the Nobunaga's Reign statue after the battle. END BOSS BATTLE Go back to the Save Mirror. Take the left path. Take the small detour on the left. Ekei should assist you with fighting the enemies. Talk to him when they are all dead for a Medicine. Break the seal with the Buraitou and get the Nobunaga's Dignity statue. Go to back to the Save Mirror. Cross the lake and enter the doors. Continue forward and place the three Nobunaga statues you have in the order that is shown to you. Ekei should you help you in this room. Be sure to kill all the enemies to remain on good terms with Ekei. You can earn Herbs from the Alligators in the room where you find Jujudormah's Diary and the Save Mirror. It may take a few minutes to get one. At this point I had 12 Herbs and 11 Medicines. I decided to have 20 Herbs in my inventory and to make a new Save file in case I need more Healing Items later. You are recommended to do the same. If your numbers are lower then use the ratio 2 Herbs = 1 Medicine. So if you have 42 Herbs and 0 Medicines, we are even. Get enough orbs to power up the Hyoujin-Yari to Level 3. It takes 8 Red Orb Bars to go from Level 1 Hyoujin-Yari to Level 2. It takes 18 Red Orb Bars to go from Level 2 Hyoujin-Yari to Level 3. Procced into the next room and you will fight Jujudormah. TO DEFEAT JUJUDORMAH Items used: 1 Herb. The important thing method in conserving your Health is block first, attack second. If your Health drops below half of your meter, your support character should come and help. The battle difficulty greatly drops after this instance. Keep using the same tactics as with Ginghamphatts and use all the Magic Attacks with all 3 weapons. Go Oni as soon as possible and remember to collect the souls after attacking. END BOSS BATTLE Collect all the Souls when you kill her. Use the White Necklace to refill your Health bar to the max. Hit the red switch right in front of you to open up a passage. Slowly walk to tHe chest to pick up the Herb. Run past it. Poison gas will begin to fill the room so make your way out of the cavern. You should come to a Save Mirror. Refill your Health again, equip the Senpumaru then Save. Examine the yellow boat-looking device and place the Orb into the hole when asked. You will battle with Gogandantess again. FIGHTING GOGANDANTESS Healing Items used: None Having the Senpumaru equipped should keep some distance between you and Gogandantess. You must hit him quite a few times for the battle to end. Just block and throw in some attacks when you can. END BOSS BATTLE You will take control of Oyu now and automatically receive the Red Bracelet. Save at the Mirror, unless you want to risk the chance of fighting Gogandantess again (this will happen of course if you didn't Save and you die). You can also fight the Alligators here and collect Herbs if you wish. Go behind the Dragon Statue and down the stairs. Continue down to where the chest is. Kill these big boys by using Level 3 charge attacks. Pick up the Key Plate and go back to where the Dragon Statue is and use it. Save again. Go to the door on that is to the right when you face the Dragon Statue. Note: It's a good idea to go into each new area and refight enemies over and over again in EVERY room, until you get past the area where you find the Save Mirror and the Gradius. Eventually the rooms will clear out, with few exceptions. However, this will guarantee that you can run through a room without fighting an enemy since it will take a while for them to regenerate. This could take a good amount of time, but doing this should allow you not to use any Healing Items. Use Level 1, 2, or 3 attacks when possible. In the room with the acid pond, there are three items. When you enter the room, head towards Oyu's left and open the chest to get the Oni Place Map #2. Get the Oni's Secret Weapon scroll. It should be visible on the screen. Run past the acid pond and run past the door into the area that is hidden from the camera. Pick up the shiny object, and you will get a Medicine. Remember to exit, Save, come back and fight, and repeat until there are no enemies as soon as you enter the room. Continue into the next area and fight the enemies. You should eventually get to a room containing glass tiles. A barrier prevents you from proceeding into the next area. Fish creatures will break the tiles and shoot spit at you. Hold out and eventually the barrier will disappear. In the next area, you will have to fight many enemies. Pick up the Adarga from the chest and make sure to equip it. Kill the creature blocking the wall to open up a passage. You can proceed past the barrier-type device once you have control of Jubei again. Go through the wall passage. I recommend running past the enemies until you get to the Save Mirror. Open the chest and pick up the Gradius. Save, and make sure you're at max health. Proceed into the next area and you will have to fight two yellow bull creatures and a red Bull. Once you get into the area, prepare a Level 3 charge attack. Once you proceed a little bit, a yellow Bull will drop. Attack him with the Level 3 charge and dish out a few more slashes until it dies. Run back towards the entrance and prepare a Level 3 charge attack again. Advance back to where you fought the previous yellow bull, if it is not already there. Repeat the same strategy as you did for the previous bull. After this, a red bull will drop. Prepare a Level 3 attack, hit the red bull with it, and then run away from it. Repeat this strategy. If you must heal, then do so with Herbs. Make up your deficit where you put the Key Plate into the Dragon Statue. After this, you should get the Sacred Flute. After you are done collecting Herbs or if you don't need anymore, then go back to where Jubei is. Oyu take the Sacred Flute to Jubei Go to the Dragon Statue and collect your hammer weapon (Dokoutsui). Fight all the enemies to collect more Red Orbs, then go to the Save Mirror. You should have enough Red Orbs to upgrade the following weapons. It takes 18 Red Orb Bars to go from Level 2 Senpumaru to Level 3. It takes 11 Red Orb Bars to go from Level 1 Dokoutsui to Level 2. Make sure you Save! Your goal is to make your way back to where the barrier is (the room where you went through the wall). Go along the same path that you did with Oyu until you get to the room after the acid pond room. Ekei will help you in a battle. Kill the enemies and talk with Ekei afterwards. Make the promise, and he will give you Senpumaru Tech.2. Oyu will fight with you past the room where the fish break the tiles. Clear out the enemies, use the Dokoutsui on the barrier, and fight the enemies here. Talk with Oyu once the battle is done to get an Herb. I was lucky enough to collect an additional Love Potion while fighting an earlier enemy, so I gave it to her. Go back to the Save Mirror. Go to the door to the left of it and enter the room. Pick up the Lift Instructions on the left side of the screen along the walkway. Pick up the Magic Liquid to the left of the lift. Use the Senpumaru magic on the rusty fan. Go onto the lift and you will go down. In this area, open the chest for the Oni's Place Map #2. Go through the door. In the next room, you will see a puzzle box. The solution to the puzzle is top arrow left side, middle arrow top row, and bottom arrow right side. You should get the Tanegashima. Go back to the last screen, towards the right side of the screen. If you are highly favored with Ekei, you will fight a monster and in the hidden room is the Yellow Necklace. With this equipped, stand close to an enemy when it is knocked down and press R1+Circle to gain some energy. Now, climb the ladder where you got the Tanegashima. Run across and climb down the ladder. Enter the door. In this next room, you can refill your Magic energy if you wish. Pick up the Guildenstern's Letter if you wish. There is a number puzzle. The solution is 1 upper left, 4 upper right, 7 second row, 10 third row, 13 bottom left, and 16 bottom right. You should get the Golden Key. Backtrack to where you got the Oni Place Map#2. Climb the ladder and use the Golden key on the hole. Skip across the boxes and use the Circle Key. YOu will encounter a puzzle in this room. Move all the Circles to the left and all the Diamonds to the right. Enter the light path. Immediately hit R2. Continue until you get to a ladder. Climb down it. There is a puzzle box on the left side of the screen. The solution is right arrow top row, bottom arrow right side, left arrow bottom row, top arrow left side, left arrow top row, bottom arrow left side. You should get a Talisman, very helpful! Save it for Nobunaga. Continue climbing down the stairs. If you encounter no archers, that means Ekei is your favored character, as he should be if you have followed this walkthrough. Pick up the Green Wedge from the treasure box. Make sure to Save at the Mirror. Walk up to the door. Here, you will take control of Ekei. Head to the left up the screen and enter the door. Fight the enemies along the way until you get to the red chest. Open it to get the Cherry Key. Open the door right next to you with the key and proceed into the next area. This area should be familiar. Fight the enemies if you wish. Go down the stairs in this area and pick up the Medicine. Go back up and enter the castle doors and go into the left door if you need to refill your magic. If not, proceed into the double doors that are north. Open the door to the right with the Cherry Key. Pick up the Nioh Protector in the Black Box and equip it. Other items in this room include the Crescent Key, Human as Food, and Artwork #12. There is also a puzzle box. The solution to the puzzle box is middle arrow left side, left arrow top row, and top arrow right side. You should get a Magic Jewel which you should save for Jubei. You should Save at the Save Mirror that is next to where you previously used the Bronze Mask Left and Right pieces. You will have to go through a few rooms from the beginning of the castle to get to it. Backtrack to the area where you got the Cherry Key. Go to the door that you have not entered yet. It should require the Crescent Key to open. Keep on going up to the next door. In this area, run past the enemies. Continue onward towards the waterfall area. Along the way, you will see a Black Box inside a side area. Open it to get the Halberd. Equip it. Enter the shack. Refill your Magic and Save. Go down the stairs and get onto the boat. This area is where you should fill up your Health. Just get on the boat, go back to the Save Mirror, refill your Magic, Save, and repeat until your Health is full. Healing Items used in next room: 0 Once you are past this area, you will have to fight three of the enemies that roll up into a ball and run into you. Get them to come up to upper left corner of the room (right where the red barrier is keeping you from entering the door into the next room). Blocking is your first priority. Attack when you see an opening. Immediately after killing all three, hold R1. The red bull should fall down. If you are by the door, his back should be to you. Holding R1, keep attacking him. If he swings his hammer and you are about to be hit, use your Magic attack, which should be full. Then holding R1, attack him some more. Keep doing this until he falls. If you have to use 1 Herb, I can't really blame you since he is tough. Just make sure you don't use the Talisman! Get all items in this room which include the Artwork #13, Golden Evil Statue book, and the Fortinbras Book. You should automatically get the Snake Key. Backtrack to the Save Mirror and Magic Refill box. Utilize both. At this point, I have 27 Herbs and 13 Medicines if you wish to compare your stats to mine. Recall that 2 Herbs = 1 Medicine. Run past the waterfall area, and in the forest type area should be a statue. Hit it a few times and pick up the Medicine. Backtrack to where Jubei is. Once you have control of Jubei, you should get Ekei's orbs and the Snake Key. Use the Magic Jewel and max out the Dokoutsui. It takes 23 Red Orb Bars to go from Level 2 Dokoutsui to Level 3. Save. If you wish to get the Purple Necklace (which reduces the amount of magic needed for a magic attack), head to the right of the screen in the next area. Use the Buraitou to break the barrier. In the Green Phantom Realm area, you can get a Medicine on Level 8. On Level 10 is a Perfect Medicine and the Purple Necklace. If you don't want the necklace, then head back to the castle to the Save Mirror in front of the door that requires you to use the Bronze Mask Left and Right items. From this point, head back to the room where you got the Purify Charm. There is a barrier here that requires the Dokoutsui. Use it on the barrier and proceed to the next room. There is a Medicine in the red chest. There is also a puzzle box. The solution to the puzzle is bottom arrow right side, right arrow bottom row, left arrow bottom row, center arrow right side, center arrow bottom row, and top arrow right side. You should get the Dokoutsui secret. Return to where you got the Cherry Key. Head to towards the left door in this area where Ekei used the Crescent Key to open the door. Head to the right and use the Hyoujin-Yari to break the barrier. Inside, collect the Gourd. A light path is at the end. Enter it. When you get to the cave area, find the red chest to get a Medicine. You cannot do anything with the statue, so just Save and proceed to the left of the Save Mirror. Jubei will get turned into stone here, so now you take control of Magoichi, if you have followed this walkthrough thoroughly. Open the Black chest to get the Green Bracelet, although Red Orbs are no longer necessary. Proceed forth and fight the enemies along the way. Yes they are tough, but if you have made it this far then you can handle anything! Kill the green plant-like creature on the switch to open the bridge. In the next room should a Save Mirror, black chest containing the Rasha gloves, and a red chest containing the Demon Cave Map. Pick up both items before saving. Make sure to clear out the next two rooms. You need to be at max health when you get to the room that is sealed off with red barriers. This will be the hardest battle for Magoichi and may require a couple of resets. When you get to the room with doors sealed by red barriers, make sure you keep firing. Move left and right when one of the spinning yellow creatures comes close to you so you can get in a critical hit. Use your magic to get gunshots off faster. Make sure you continously draw in souls so you can fill your magic and health meter. After you clear out a few yellow creatures, a red bull will appear. If he comes within your viewing screen, use magic and left off a ton of shots! In no way do you want him to get close to you so he can use his ax on you. Two hits when at full health will do you in. After you clear this area, head back to the Save mirror and Save! When you get back to this room the yellow creature will respawn, but luckily the red bull will not. Venture forth and eventually you will be able to collect the flamethrower+fuel from a black chest. Open the red chest for the Great Powder Tube. Head back to the Save Mirror, use the Great Powder Tube on the statue to collect a Medicine, and Save. When you get to the drawbridge, the Great Powder Tube will be stolen from you. Immediately equip the flamethrower and try your hardest to kill the creature that stole it from you. Hold R1, shoot the flamethrower, and move in a circle with Magoichi. It will be hard to survive this enemy onslaught, so fight wisely. If the creature who stole the Great Powder Tube runs away (or disappears, whichever you prefer), run across the bridge, reequip the Goraishinki, and use magic attacks to kill the enemies. Head to the next area. Don't worry if you didn't get the Great Powder Tube. If you did not kill the creature and pick up the Great Powder Tube, then you can fight it here. Use the flamethrower to kill it. It should be a little easier since you don't have all those alligator creatures crowded around it as in the previous room. Collect the Great Powder Tube and venture forth. Continue until you get to Jubei. Use the Great Powder Tube on the statue directly behind Jubei for a Medicine. You can use the Great Powder Tube on the other guy as well, but you won't get any items. After that, use the Great Powder Tube on Jubei. Head back to where the Light Path is and use the Great Powder Tube on the statue. Save at the Save Mirror. Head further into the caves, behind where the statue was. Use the Great Powder Tube on the guy for a Secret Medicine. There should be a puzzle box here. The solution to the puzzle box is left arrow bottom row, bottom arrow left side, right arrow bottom row, bottom arrow right side, and left arrow top row. You should get a Power Jewel. Open the red chest that's a little bit further to get an Herb. Proceed to the next room and smash the barrier if you wish. Now it's time to backtrack to the Light Path. Save! Head out of the Light Path back into the room where you got the Gourd. Exit out of here and head left to the door. If you recall, you went through this area with Ekei to get the Snake Key. Head back through an area, the forest type area, the waterfall area, and finally to the shack. You can pick up the Hunting Schedule if you wish. Refill your magic and Save. Get into the boat to cross to the other side. Go into the house and fight the enemies here. Nothing you can't handle. Pick up the two books as well as the Artwork #13 if you did not do it with Ekei earlier. In the next room, use the Great Powder Tube on both guys. Talk to the guy to Jubei's left a few times to get a Secret Medicine. Venture forth until you get to another puzzle device. Move all the circle tiles to the left and all the diamond tiles to the right as indicated at the picture on top. The tiles that are highlighted are the ones that can currently be moved. After this, a Light path will open up. Examine it to walk through it. Head up to the red chest and open it for a Special M. Liquid. Head into the next area. Ekei should help you out with the enemies. Clear out all the enemies. The door on the left can be opened if you have the 3 Fossilized Bone (which you should). Open the door and you will be presented with a puzzle. The solution to the puzzle is right arrow top row, bottom arrow right side, left arrow bottom row, and center arrow left side. You should get the Black Necklace. Equipping this will make Critical Hits easier to pull off, however you will sacrifice some Health. Also, if you swing the sword without hitting an enemy, it will still take off health! Proceed to the next area. Oyu should help you out with the enemies. If you have the Black Necklace equipped, try to kill a group of enemies with a Critical Hit instead of one. You should get some Yellow Orbs to compensate for the loss of health. Head into the next area after you are done with the enemies. Take the first right turn. Kill the enemy all the way down the hall with a Critical Hit. Go into the side opening and you should get to a puzzle box. The solution to the puzzle is bottom arrow right side, top arrow right side, left arrow top row, and bottom arrow left side. You should get a Magic Jewel, and you should use it right away! Kill the enemy that appears, preferably by Critical Hit. Head back to the corridor, go north and then turn west. There should be an Herb in the red chest. Go to the only other area you have yet to explore and you will see a fan and a lift. Use the Senpumaru magic attack to activate the rusty fan and take the ride the lift. Inside this room is the Scarlet Key. Also here is the Artwork #14. Search among the pile to the right. Go through the door. You should be familiar with this area. Head away from the camera and Save at the Save Mirror. Go into the door right next to it and talk to Ekei. He will ask you for the Stamina Drink. Proceed down the lift and go through the next door. Venture forth until you get to the treasure chest (which contained the Tanegashima) and climb up the ladder. Run around until you get to another ladder. Climb down and enter the door. Refill your Magic. Pick up the shiny object to obtain the Stamina Drink. Backtrack to Ekei and give him it to him. Go to the Save Mirror and Save. Go back to where you got the Stamina Drink and use the Scarlet Key on the door to open it. You should see a Magic Mirror. Save and proceed forward and pick up the Secret Medicine and Gogandantess Shield. If you health and magic are reasonably full, go into the door to fight Gogandantess for the last time. TO DEFEAT GOGANDANTESS Use the Sacred Flute when the battle begins. Use all the magic attacks from your weapons on Gogandantess. Make sure to collect necessary souls (Yellow and Blue ones). You should be able to kill him with only minor difficulty. Definitely the easiest battle of the 3 total Gogandantess battles. END BOSS BATTLE
