"Jake"

DOB: 09/23/97 * Blue speckled w/tan markings * More Photos
Jake is my partner and my shadow. As a young pup he went to work with me on occasion. The girls at Southern States absoluely loved him and aided in helping to socialize him. Being a typical Australian Cattle Dog, Jake needed a job to do. When he was 1.5 years old I looked into search and rescue and found that both Jake and I liked it and had the aptitude for it. We joined the K-9 Alert SAR team and after intensive training earned our wilderness Search certification. After some years, we retired from SAR since my husband and I were starting a family. Jake transitioned nicely into "family life" although he still misses SAR (as do I). Jake has done well in obedience and shows aptitude for herding. He is just waiting for me to get the time to get out there and do some more. He is very versatile and an intense dog with an excellent temperment.
Jake is registered with AKC under an ILP (he is purebhred but has no papers). You will notice that Jake has a docked tail. Australian Cattle Dogs are NOT supposed to have docked tails. If you ahve seen them work, you can appreciate the importance of their tails.
