Entry for October 30, 2007

We have officially entered full novel level folks!  Hurrah!  I kept feeling my novel in progress was much too short and that at best I had a novelette rather than a novel.  Well...

I did some research.  Turns out a novel avreages out 60 000 words or more in total, averaging 25 lines of text per page.  As an example, the article I read said to take your favourite novel, count the pages and multiply by 200, that will give you an idea.

I picked up one of my Steven King paperbacks, did the formula and came up with an average of 98 000 words, give or take.  I did a word count on my work in progress...83 000 words! (if memory serves).

I'm in the zone doodz & doodettes, definitely more than 60 000 and closing in on one of my favourite Steven King novels (The Shining in this case).

My novel is far from done, but I'm in the right vicinnity length-wise...I can only hope it's good! ;-)the other thing I want to do before going any further is to format my document in Novel style - 25 lines per page.  I found an article that explains the process in detail.

Formatting is next, and then adding more flesh to the story...I can only hope the tale of the Angel and the Preacher is enjoyable!

Ciao for now!
