Entry for August 23, 2007
Mega updates coming up...mega overhaul about to happen on this site. Transforming this web page into a promotional Reverend Justice site will take work ... I'm 114 pages well into my Novellette turning to Novel. Hey M.J; I just killed-off my first character, bet you thought I didn't have it in me huh? ;-) I was thinking I could write one last tongue-in-cheek short story, alluding to the DC Universe in which Shayera confronts Joey for leaving her, turning his back on her, the Gotham Knights, young Rex and all his friends in the League and Titans. "We love you Joey, we miss you, please come back to us, we're miserable without you!" Thing is, every time I try I get writer's block within the first sentence: what would be an appropriate premice other than a dream, which I've already done to death? Perhaps I could redo Morpheus' realm...which in itself was loosely based on an episode of Batman The Animated Series, in which Batman was kidnapped by the Mad Hatter. Perhaps it would be best to leave well enough alone. The mighty DC haven't sent me a cease and desist email, so perhaps I shouldn't press my luck... Perhaps I should wait and see what becomes of (spoiler alert...) The Esoteric Squad.
Yep, that's the current working title. Entitling that story "Reverend Justice" wouldn't be very reflective of the content any longer. Joey and Sheila are a team, a unit. He's her tough, gritty, over-protective side while she's his level-headed, logical, deductive side. But make no mistake about it though, she's no damsel in distress. In fact, the women depicted thus far are sweet and sexy on the outside but built on an iron core. They are strong and tough, and if you push them, better run and hide (more of the DC universe influence perhaps?). That being said, I do miss the "Batman loves Wonder Woman" fantasy romances...and not to pat myself on the back, but I think my solution to make their relationship work was pretty clever. Anyway...a gentleman from LULU.com lectured me on the liberties I've taken with Copyrighted characters and how it's morally wrong, regardless of whether or not I'm making a profit from it so... Looks like my focus will be placed on my Esoteric squad. Who knows, if it has any success, maybe DC will open up the door and work something out with me for cross-over stories? I'd like that! Ciao for now! 2007-08-24 02:37:41 GMT
