Entry for July 13, 2007
What's this? 4 visits on the 11th and nobody dropped a note? I'm hurt! :( Sure enough, as soon as I've given up on writing any more DC based fantasy stories, DC comics decide to "open the door" so to speak for us Fanfic writers...I do mean of sorts as they will only consider actual comic strips, not novel form. The grand prize: seeing your comic in print and gathering royalties from its sales. Nice but...I feel I've past the age of the demo tapes you know? As a wannabe song writer a few years ago, how many such tapes have I sent to various record companies only to be bitterly disappointed? Do I really want to go through the effort of putting one of my stories into drawings (since my buddy MJ knows an artist who could...) go through all of the work of turning a story such as Plight of Hermaphrodites into actual graphic form, only to realise there's better indy work out there? Breaking the mold has allowed me to create my own world, hell, maybe if my Novelette (that needs a title by the way) gets any kind of success the top hats at DC would pay me attention as a writer? Here's the problem with this: if I start writing to impress any other Tom, Dick and Harry out there, this stops being a labour of love, it stops being fun. At any rate, no telling what tomorrow brings. The voice inside my head (Yeah MJ I got one of those too!) tells me "Go for it, try your luck, what if the people at DC actually like the way you made Batman and Wonder Woman work as a couple and want to hear more?" Sigh... ciao for now my friends! 2007-07-14 03:25:09 GMT
