Entry for July 11, 2006
Okay, this apology is a few weeks overdue ... to the DC writers who decided to revamp Batwoman as a "lipstick Lesbian" (whatever that means), I apologise for refering to you as bone heads. I'm the bonehead who forgot. Way back when (1940's?), Bob Kane had created a Bat Woman; a Circus performer named Kathy Kane who had (you guessed it) more than a minor crush on Batman. Later on, a Batgirl was added to that story line: Kathy's niece Bette. For some unknown reason, both Batwoman and Batgirl were dropped, and Batgirl 2 - Barbara Gordon was introduced in a new story line (1960's?). Somehow, Batwoman was reintroduced as an Earth 2 Character and murdered by some crime syndicate (I forget which, I believe it was Earth 2's version of the League of Shadows). Oddly enough, Earth 1's current Batgirl (Cassandra Cain) was litterally bred to become RĂ 's al Ghul's personal bodyguard, but found redemption, becoming Batgirl herself ... So, my apologies my friends, pass the Crow pie: I'm the one who should have investigated the issue deeper - Wikipedia is where my memory was once more refreshed. In my defence though, you must admit my mistake was understandable: Kathy Kane, Cassandra Cain...they kind of sound similar don't they? 2006-07-11 14:45:13 GMT
