In centre of Telatgori (see map)
on little hillock there is church of
Saint George. It is dated late
feudal period. In 1982 it was repaired.
The church is constructed from a rough stone of the average sizes. There
is a small niche above the entrance. From the east above window is a
stone cross. From the west there
is an extension - Saint Feodor's church. It is constructed from the same
material, only the smaller sizes. |

Near Telatgori is located village Lavriskhevi. Approximately in 1-1,5 kms
from it in wood gorge is church Lavra.
It is dated first half of X centuries. The plan of church represents a
cross. The church is constructed from sandstones
the average sizes. Basalt and tuff is used
also. In XIX century the church was plastered
and painted. The wooden floor was put, the roof was made. The church has
two entrances. The octagonal
dome lays on slightly extended rectangular basis. In each corner and
in each shoulder is one window. In church is keeped some murals. If to continue a way by a path going past Lavra, it is possible to get in monastery Kvatakhevi (XII-XIII), to which it is possible to drive by car from village Tsinarekhi. If you don't turn to a monastery and to go all time upwards, it is possible to get on the road, which goes to village Nichbisi. At the approach to Bottom Nichbisi from the hillock opens the view on the fortress of Tsitsishvili family. From Bottom Nichbisi it is possible to leave to Tbilisi by microbus (last at 18-00). |
