I was reading this book with this guy with amazing green eyes,
and got to wondering if a real guy was used for the cover. So that's how I got
the idea to search online for authors of romance novels, and found that real
people are indeed used for the covers, and that led to my search for the guys
model for him, and to John's official site. I don't know what book with
him on the cover I got into first...

What got me interested in John DeSalvo?
I originally thought that the covers were all drawings, and the male
models
were just signature pieces for a specific artist. I was shocked
to find out that these were drawings of REAL people! When I found
out I went to one of my favorite author's website and they were talking
about a model on one of her covers, John DeSalvo.
I went to his site, and
did a search on him online, and found out I own a good number of
books he's on the cover of! I then looked at the other covers I have
with other models and found I much prefered John over the others. I've
been stuck with him ever since.

I first started noticing
the men on the books I love to read and could not believe they could be real.
So I went on a search. I soon found quite a few gorgeous men I did not believe could exist. But they most definitely do exist, I met some of them in Orlando at RT Booklovers Convention 2001. It was wonderful. And believe me John DeSalvo is a very warm and friendly person.
Yes I am Helen, the founder of this wonderful group........born in Sydney Australia, now living in Melbourne Australia.....actually it is my 50th year on this planet today!!!! and it feels good!!!!
Discovering John DeSalvo??? well actually my best friend came across the 1994 Calendar and could not help herself.....yes she bought it for me for Christmas 1993....... then in March 1997 I found myself hooked on the internet and of course searched for info on my favorite celebs......then in about October 1997 I decided to take the challenge and design my own web page (still exists).....I called it Helens Hot Males and while making the page discovered that the only info about John was a small paragraph on the Romantic Times Site (not even a photo).....I also found nothing about Richard Tyson (that is another story).....I decided to scan the pics on my calendar and create the very first John DeSalvo site (still exists)....I also created the email group.....it has evolved from a Onelist Group then Egroups took over and now as we all know it now belongs to Yahoo Groups.........Whew!!!! what a wonderful world!!!
the cyberworld has certainly changed part of my life!!! and the rest of the world doesn't always seem a long way from Australia.......
Oh I forgot.......I love travelling to the USA...I have taken several trips...however I decided I had better look after my retirement and purchased a home, a couple of years ago.....so now I have morgage payments instead of overseas trips....and you can't imagine How I felt when I found out this year's convention is going to be in Reno......cos I love Lake Tahoe, I feel a special connection with Lake tahoe, especially North Lake Tahoe......I don't know what it is, but it is very strong (maybe the Mafia LOL). Seriously, I felt it as I was driving from Reno to the lake the very first time.......I had intended to stay the nite in Reno, but even after flying 16 hours, as soon as I landed in Reno I just had to get the Lake (and I had never driven on the other side of the road before either (smile).......I would love to know what the connection is......I may never know, and I have visited a lot places and never had the same feeling, but it sure does feel good.....almost as good as looking at my special calendar!!!!
