MASTERS, THIS IS WHERE I DISAGREE WITH YOU� Let me introduce you to America and its History of being a Looney Bin of Diversity. The first wave started in the 1600s and 1700s when people of very divergent cultures and traditions came to these shores because of economic opportunity, and political and religious freedom. They were so diverse that they couldn�t agree on religion and most other social issues. As a matter of fact, they started persecuting each other and many had to break off and start their own new colonies. The next big wave of Looney Bin of Diversity comes at the �turn of the century� just after the Civil War and into the 1900s. From many parts of the world they came, again for economic opportunity, political and religious freedom. Is it any different today? Does the Constitution and the Bill of Rights have the flexibility to work well among the current Looney Bin of Diversity-- 300 million Americans, as it did for a mere 3 million citizens when it was written? |
