| Out Run is my all time favorite racing game. It is also at this monent the most recent game to my collection. Unlike other games that came out before it, Out Run features a more "open track" design. You race on highways instead of a racetrack, avoiding other "real" drivers.. and not other "racers". If you make a checkpoint within a certain time, you choose between two different highway ramps for the next round. This can produce many different scenes and five different endings....if you make it all the way to the end of the course. The fast moving 3-D like graphics with intensive scaling (for the time ) are simular to other Sega games of the same era like Space Harrier, After Burner, and Galaxy Force. One of the true classic video games of all time, Out Run is still in many arcades and locations to this day, and is a highly sought collectors piece. My Out Run is in a mini style cabinet, I paid 140 bucks at auction for it (it was not working at the time) To my amazement once I got it home, I found the only thing wrong with it was a broken plastic connector on the CPU. The game was up and running within 10 mins. |
