Postcard released their 1980 debut single, 'Falling and Laughing', which was recorded for less than �100 yet received ecstatic reviews in the press. They began work on an album, but split from Postcard during the recording. Polydor saw their potential, and funded the completion and release of 'You Can't Hide Your Love Forever', but internal difficulties saw Kirk and Daly leave, with Malcolm Ross and Zeke Manyika replacing them.
The new line-up (featuring ex-Josef K guitarist Malcolm Ross) managed a top 10 hit with 'Rip It Up' (also the title of the second album), which finally brought the exposure they deserved. This was short-lived, as subsequent releases failed to chart, and again internal problems saw the departure of band members with only Collins and Manyika remaining. Despite this, a mini-album, 'Texas Fever' was followed by an eponymous third LP, but Collins eventually dropped the Orange Juice name and went solo.
Ross had gone on to join Aztec Camera, Manyika would release solo projects on Polydor and later Parlophone Records, whilst Collins retained a cult following until the release of 'A Girl Like You' from his 'Gorgeous George' album propelled him into the UK Top 10 once more. He has remained active in the music scene, with further albums emerging every year or two displaying his trademark cynic/romantic lyrical style and a more polished musicianship than was evident in his Orange Juice days.
