NEW FAST AUTOMATIC DAFFODILS
Arriving on the scene in Manchester at the height of the 'Baggy' period, they were once described as bearing a resemblance to 'a team of sex psychologists at a mass orgy'.

Signed to Belgian label 'Play It Again Sam' in 1989, their early singles such as 'Music Is Shit' gained them much attention, displaying a wit and intelligence which elevated them above the level of the post-Stone Roses bandwagon jumpers that were also emerging at the time.

Following their first album, 'Pigeon Hole', 'Get Better' saw them remixed by Joy Division producer Martin Hannett, and the second album 'Body Exit Mind' found them increasingly successful in the independent charts.

A third album, 'Love It All', followed in 1995, but things went quiet after this, with unconfirmed reports of various other projects circulating from time to time.

With a unique sound that could be likened to many post-punk bands such as P.I.L. and Gang of Four, and a lyrical outlook combining dry humour with occasional menace, the New Fads were often praised in the music press, but failed to translate this into mainstream chart placings.
