PART 2
After a few warm-up gigs in Sweden they commenced their first headlining American tour in November 1984. The time seemed to be ripe for a breakthrough;  venues were sold out way in advance, MTV were playing Hanoi videos, and the press were on their side. During a concert in New York, Mike stepped on a broken bottle and twisted his ankle badly, and the next gig was cancelled. They flew to Los Angeles where they joined a party with Motley Crue at Tommy Lee's house. On the 9th of December Motley Crue vocalist Vince Neil and Razzle went for a ride in Neil's new car. The drunken Neil lost control, crossed into the northbound lanes and was struck by two other cars. Razzle was taken to hospital, but was pronounced dead at 7.12 p.m. Neil wasn't injured, and although he had been arrested for drunk driving twice previously, this did not appear to harm his reputation, receiving bail of $2500 and 30 days in jail.

The remaining band and crew members were overwhelmed with grief and cancelled all planned tours for the next month or two, eventually deciding to perform two concerts in Helsinki, January 1985. The gigs were televised in Europe on 'Europe-A-Go-Go' on MTV. At first Tommy Lee had promised to play drums, but in the end ex-Clash drummer Terry Chimes filled the empty stool left by Razzle. This was also the last time Sam played with the band, having already stated his intentions to leave whilst in the US.

Andy went on holiday with his new girlfriend. leaving Michael and Nasty to find a new bass player. They decided on Ren Berg who had occasionally played with Andy, and was a member of the Idle Flowers. When the band entered the studio to demo the next album, he began barking orders on how the band should sound, but on his first outing with the band on a ten-date tour of Poland, he was ordered to wear black clothes, no stage lights were spotted on him, and he was given the shortest possible bass wire so that he couldn't move around the stage.

The final album, 'Rock 'n' Roll Divorce' was was recorded at the band's last gig at the Rockerina Festival, Poland on May 19th 1985, and when Michael left soon after, the band were finished.

Several compilations and re-releases have seen the light of day since 1985 and bands like Guns'n'Roses, Skid Row, Backyard Babies and the Manic Street Preachers acknowledge Hanoi Rocks as a major influence. Guns'n'Roses vocalist Axl Rose once said that: "If Hanoi Rocks would have reached the success they should have had, no-one would have ever heard of Guns'n'Roses."

In the summer of 2001 Michael and Andy got back together for a tour of Finland under the name Michael Monroe & Andy McCoy - Hanoi Revisited, and on the 27th of March 2002 they announced that rumours of a long awaited Hanoi Rocks comeback were true. A new single 'People Like Me' was released in April 2002, with an album later the same year supported by a tour. The new Hanoi Rocks members are guitarist Costello Hautamki, Lacu and Timpa.
