Their first releases were two tracks on the 'Trash On Delivery' compilation by Flicknife Records (1983), 'Everybody Loves You (When You're Dead)' and 'Livin' Out Rock 'n' Roll'. Another track appeared on a heavy metal compilation in 1984, and their first official release came in 1985 with their eponymously titled debut album.
From the cover pic, and throughout all the songs, this band were clearly taking the piss out of rock 'n' roll, the music industry and themselves 24 hours a day. Their music was a mix of punk snottiness, glam metal posturing and the type of humour that no grown man would be proud of five years after the fact. A live E.P. recorded at the Marquee in London was released in 1986, but this would be the last official release for the band.
The Babysitters played the Reading Festival in 1987, but soon after, Buttz and Stik played on the Gangbang Band E.P. (featuring Spike from the Quireboys, Bernie Torme, and allegedly Nasty Suicide from Hanoi Rocks) and this would seem to point to the end of the Babysitters, as no subsequent releases followed except a bootleg CD in 1999 collecting both Babysitters and Gangbang Band tracks.
Buttz and Spike at this time had a rock club night at Gossips in Soho, now the home of legendary rock club 'Decadence', and later Buttz formed Last of the Teenage Idols to continue the joke that was started with the Babysitters . . . (obviously not learning from experience!)
