Chris Kling Chris's musical influences are mostly too numerous to list, but by the time he started playing and singing solo in the late 70's, Chris had borrowed from a variety of influences - adding songs from Elvis Presley, Harry Chapin, Roger Miller and the Beatles to his repertoire for good measure - in an entertaining mixture of music and fun.
Chris left music behind for a while - but not the stage - and has appeared in numerous plays at his high school in Branford, CT, as well as the world-reknowned "Puppet Theater" in Stony Creek, CT; most recently, Chris performed in the orchestra for the January 2006 performance of Grease, at the New Bern Civic Theatre in New Bern, NC, acted, sang and danced as the Elvis-inspired Pharaoh in the New Bern Civic Theatre's 2004 production of Andrew Lloyd Webber's Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat... a role which directly led to that of an Elvis Presley impersonator at New Bern's Tryon Palace for their Christmas Through the Years, which, in turn, directly led him to the attention of Simon Spalding, with whom he formed the RetroRockets. Chris currently uses a Yamaha FG411-CE acoustic/electric and a Fender Telecaster. He runs the Yamaha through the PA, and runs his Tele through a brand-new Roland Cube 30 amp, which models five different classic guitar amps, and has many built in effects. Chris was so impressed with Simon's Roland Bass Cube 30, ge went out and got the guitar version! (Listen for tremolo effect on Pipeline and Walk Don't Run... maybe even one day on Crimson & Clover which isn't "On the Gantry" yet, but may well get there.) One thing about Chris, you can tell that the only thing he takes seriously is having fun! Chris's Instruments: |
