Background History:

The story of Xavier and Zelig is rather simple. They were both born and raised in Orange Walk Town where they grew up together as two quiet little boys who never played with anyone else. The real story is a very tragic story, though quite common in the realm of tragedies. A lifetime ago, Zelig and Xavier were actually Ghreallach and Trefhuilgne, two men from a different world...

Qesn was a world inhabited by two races, the Kil and the Asyle, who lived together in harmony. The Kil were an insect-winged race and the Asyle were a feather-winged race. Ghreallach was a warrior of the Kil race and Trefhuilgne was one of the Asyle King's archers. The two were the best of friends and almost inseparable. Then war struck out one day between the Kil and the Asyle and they found themselves on opposite sides, sworn to their rulers to fight. After many months of fighting, the final battle happened when Ghreallach and two other Kil made it into the Asyle King's castle. The King's archers were scattered and only two were left to protect the King. Trefhuilgne was one of those archers. As the Kil entered the throne room and made their way to the King, the archers shot the other two Kil. Before the one archer could shoot Ghreallach, Trefhuilgne knocked him out and pleaded with Ghreallach to surrender. Ghreallach responded that he had to do his duty to end the war and advanced on the King. Crying, Trefhuilgne shot Ghreallach once in the back. Ghreallach, his wings torn, scratched and bleeding, gasped but kept going. He managed to kill the King just as Trefhuilgne's second arrow shot him again. Ghreallach died minutes later and Trefhuilgne was so overcome with grief that he never even noticed when his fellow archer killed him for betraying his race. The war ended with the Kil as the victors, but the two friends were so overcome with guilt that they were reborn as the humans Zelig and Xavier. They recognised each other instantly and the process of their healing began. Trefhuilgne had already forgiven Ghreallach for killing his King, because it was Ghreallach's duty to do so, but could not forgive himself for killing his best friend. Ghreallach had already forgive Trefhuilgne for killing him, because it was Trefhuilgne's duty, but could not forgive himself for being the reason that Trefhuilgne was killed by a fellow archer. So, each is locked in his own cycle of guilt, but Zelig is determined to break it. They went to YUME because they needed a place to train and forgive and Zelig thought that fighting would help them accomplish that goal.

[ice_song's note: the background colour used in these profiles indicates rank, the closer to black it is the higher up in the YUME ladder. Sort of like how security clearance level is sometimes colour coded. ^_^;]
